No they are going after Vick because he is an idiot. Dogfighting is illegal. Running a gambling ring is illegal. Transporting the dogs across state lines for the purpose of gambling is illegal.

#1, the word is "are", not "R".
#2, the word is "going", not "goin".

#3, Slaughterhouses have federal standards for processing meat that have to be followed, or the plant is closed down. The Department of Agriculture inspects the plants, inspects the meat, and the employer has labor laws that must be followed. It is a regulated industry in the food production industry.
Dog fighting is outlawed. That is the regulations regarding dog fighting.

#4, If it was a white NFL player, the uproar would be just as high. The feds would be going after him just as much. Saying that racism is involved here belittles all those who actually have been victims of racism.

While I don't know if the questioner is white, black, hispanic, asian, or whatever, I don't know if it's worse if the questioner is black or white. If the questioner is not black, it's just a guilt thing. "The system is set up to be against blacks. It's to the point where you can't even be black and have illegal dogfighting going on," just isn't an arguement that holds a lot of weight. If the questioner is black, comparing Vick's case to real racism, such as former German POWs who were in POW camps in the South during WW2 who later stayed in this country being served in some Southern diners, while black American veterans, who won the war, were denied service, demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of what exactly racism is, and does a great disservice to all people, black, white, red, yellow, and brown, who work to make racism unacceptable in society.

People who slaughter cows do so as a living, so people can eat the meat, wear leather shoes.
Killing cows is not against the law so long as it is done humanely. Cows are stunnned, then killed.
Vick tortured the dogs with electricity, for grins.
Vick set dogs on each other to tear and maim, for grins and money.
Dogfighting is against the law.

Vick is a sadistic criminal. That's why "they" are after him.

You are a racist pig, that's why you can't tell the difference. Just because he's black does not give Vick license to flout the law. OJ played that card and it's gone from the deck now.

There is a difference.....it isn't illegal to slaughter a cow!
Killing the dogs was not the whole issue. Vick took a plea bargain so he didn't go down on federal charges for the illegal gambling he had going on at his house.
The issue is about the legality of his actions.....I don't think if Vick new the severity of his consequences that he would have conducted himself this way. He basically destroyed his life as he knew it. The comissioner of the NFL may throw him out of the NFL due to the clause in his contract ...the personal conduct clause.... if they don't boot him, he will be back after he serves his time. He will need to because he signed contracts with Nike and he will have to pay back the money for breech of that contract....plus the money he will owe the NFL ....kind of like Ricky Williams....he has to play in order to pay back the money he owes.

Do you think for a second that if a white dude this that he wouldn't go to jail too? Are you friggin' serious?

Why does this have to be a race issue? You probably think OJ was innocent too.

Look here Farakhan, if 7 of his best friends/family turned evidence on him does that make them out "to get the black man" too? Oddly enough - they are all black as well!

Why is it when people of a certain race screw up it can't possibly their fault? It has to be a race issue all of a sudden, place the blame on someone else - and you say "he just killed a few dogs". Most serial killers start out killing animals before they move to people!

And how much of a moron are you to equate the production of food to viciuously drowning, beating and electrocuting dogs to death because they didn't win a dog fight?

Tell you what. Let's get you all drugged up and throw you in a ring with another drugged up dude, and if you lose - we drown you or beat you to death. How does that sound?

I hope you never have kids dude.

They are going after him because he is an idiot.

Slaughtering cows is legal, dog fighting is a felony in 49 states (it was felony in 48 states up until July 1, 2007, when New Mexico made it a felony). If he had been smart, he would have lived in one of the 2 states where it was a misdemeanor. He is an idiot.

The job of police is to go after criminals who break our laws. The job of the District Attorney is to prosecute people who break our laws. People are doing their jobs, and you are complaining?
Slaughtering cows for food is legal in the US. Playing the race card won't work this time. Vick already pleaded guilty.

No, they are prosecuting Michael Vick because he broke a number of laws and acted in an egregious manner. His acts constitute animal cruelty and that's reprehensible. If you think that there's no difference between what Vick did and what occurs in a packing plant, you have some learning to do.

No. It's because he started an illegal gambling ring. The dogs are incidental to the main racketeering charge.

He still could face dog fighting charges (which is illegal in Virginia).

By the way, owning a slaughter house is legal.

BIG DIFFERENCE. People consume the cows to survive. This has nothing to do with race. This has to do with the law. It is against the law to fight dogs. Period.
