If you'd ask the difference between being a smart person and being an academic type or an intellectual, I'd say there's a difference. As asked, I think they are identical. Slightly different connotation, like the diff in connotation between 'odor' and 'aroma', but basically the same.

Intelligence is learned by books. Smart is making wise decisions. I'd like to think that I have a little bit of intelligence and a whole lot of SMARTS.

Yes, A perspn can be intelligent and not have a bit of common sense, and a smart person will think things out before he/she acts on the situation.

I think there is.being intelligence means a higher IQ,perhaps?
whereas with smart there's street smart etc.

The way it was explained to me was that intelligence is like a tool. Having the finest tool in the world doens't help if you dont' know how to use it; that's smart. But you also have to know when to use it appropriately; that's wisdom.

Smart is a person who can collect a lot of knowledge about everything
An intelligent person has that knowledge and can use it the right way to his/her adventage

smart is knowing when you do something wrong and still do it... intelligent is knowing when you do something wrong u RUN after its done!!!!!! im smart!!!! :(
