I believe this Universe follows an unexceptional rule.... no two things can be exactly identical nor entirely different in every respect... there would always be differences as well as similarities between any two things. No two leaves of even the same branch of the same tree can ever be identical in all respects.
I have however heard of a superstition that every individual is one among 7 look-alike persons in the world.... how illogical.... does it mean that births and deaths happen in multiples of seven and the total population is always a multiple of seven? But of course the universal law does not rule out possible look-alike for everyone.
If hypothetically speaking I do find an identical self, I think it would create a sense of insecurity in both of us.... our first inclination is always competition because we are too soaked in life with rarity and scarcity.

Ah... that's a Simulcrum.
Pray never to meet them, they are your identical self and also your polar opposite.
The more proximate you become the more you will desire to destroy the other, and that desire will be uncontrollable.
You are always aware of each other.

Opposite and duplicate at the same time.
The ideal Other.

i believe we do know there is someone out there like ourselves we just need to find them and will eventually in time.
