It took Clinton about six years to fix Reagan and Bush Sr.'s mistakes and leave a budget surplus, so what about now? Bush Jr. went through the Clinton surplus like it was water. Given that and America's image on the world stage, how long will it take a Dem to fix everything, or is that impossible?

Also, Bush didn't go after Al Qaeda, he went after Hussein who had nothing to do with 9/11. Buy a history book...

Domestically, if the Congress supports a democractic administration, 8+ years. Internationally, Bush's mess will never be fully repaired. Impeaching Bush would help. You know the saying, "regime change begins at home."

No, because a Democrat will f*** it up, just in other ways. They will run up deficits too, socializing medicine and with other commie projects. As for ending the war, buls***. $50 says we still have soldiers and Marines running around Iraq long after the next president takes office, no matter what party they are. Hell, if Obama winds up in charge, we will be busy fighting in Pakistan too, and maybe invading Great Britain, who knows?

Besides, if people stay as pissed off at the Congress as they are, it will be Republican controlled in 2009 again. Besides you seem to forget that in the Clinton era, it was the at the time new Republican Congress that passed balanced budgets that led to the surpluses. It was only after they had become too entrenched in the power system that they became as corrupt as they were, just like the 40 years of Democrat control before them.

It is amazing how shallow most people's knowlege of government is. CONGRESS passes budgets, and distributes money. Bill Clinton and George Bush don't have anything to do with it. They can suggest (and these surpluses would have gone away fast if they had instituted "Hillarycare"), but they can't actually tell Congress what to spend. If you want surpluses back, we need to stop electing career politicians for life pretty much, and muck out the stall that is the Congress every 6 years or so. They all have to promise so much to get re-elected, that you wind up with bridges built to no where in Alaska, or a state like West Virginia, with the name of a former KKK recruiter slapped on every building and park, because he slopped at the pig trough, just to name an offender from each side of the isle.

Voting for the sorry crooks of your idiotic party will be just as bad as voting for the sorry crooks of the Republican party. That's why, every election, I write in for someone I think could actually do a good job, and every election I lose, but at least I don't vote for any of the corrupt idiots.

First off anyone can play with numbers to get the outcome they want.

If and I do mean IF a democrat gets in, then we can forget about the military. We all know they hate the military, so I figure we will no longer have one.

As for how long to fix, fix what???? I do know if a dem gets in we will be attacked again.

8~10 years

At least 4~6 to correct all the legal problems and restore balance of power between the branches. Plus another 4~6 after that before our military is fully back at fighting strength.

But that's assuming a President and Congress that actually want to fix the country -- something the Democrats seem wholly unable or unwilling to do.
