To be fair, I think scientists are saying that it is the most likely to be habitable of the planets they have found other than Earth - not that it actually is habitable. The planet in question is about 20.5 light years away - with our current rocketry technology ... we couldn't get there. We probably couldn't even get a probe there. It would take years of development just to get something that would get there in millions of years time. However, given the technology and a reasonably short trip, I'd go in a heart beat. If it wasn't actually habitable, I'd come back. At best, the scientists right now are predicting that its temperature is reasonable less than boiling water, more than ice, and that there is probably some water based on how planets form generally. They are making no predictions about how poisonous the atmosphere is, whether it contains oxygen, etc. Still ... in a heart beat.

NO.
I do not want to move to another planet, now, or in the future.
I am amazed that you would place your fate in the hands of someone with "an idea." Wouldn't it be best if you saw this idea fleshed out somewhat and tested prior to getting all hopped up about it? The very idea of living in a sardine can for years at a time does not impress me, or sound even a teeny bit exciting.

A man can't live on ideas alone.
I'll stay on earth, but feel free to go to Mars.
I'm waiting for the Ganymede Colony.

I'd get homesick after a while - it's cool for a vacation though. Beats the usual holiday destinations.

I hope they'll take care of the heating, too. It's freezing cold on Mars.

I would build a tunnel into a mountain there. That would be the easiest thing to do.
