where is the serial number located on a motherboard?

It depends on the motherboard brand. On an ASUS board, it is on a bar code sticker at the upper right corner (when mounted). The same number corresponds to that on the sticker on the box. Same set up on a Winfast board but the barcode sticker is beside the Northbridge. I have difficulty finding it on the Epox mobo but there's one on the box.

Depends on the motherboard model. It's somewhere on the top of the board :P

I believe it's also located on the retail box if you have that. If not, I suggest you shutdown down and unplug things, take a flashlight and carefully look around at the top of the motherboard. It's likely to be printed fairly small.

It depends entirely on manufacturer. It is usually on a label or printed on the topside of the motherboard at the edge but I have seen them in the centre of the board or even on the underside.
Try the manufacturers website, they may have your answer.

You can check for them on your motherboard box. It'll locate around bar-code tab.

Usually you can find it at the bottom of the board nearest to the last PCI slot. You can also find it under the CPU socket. But it depends on which brand and model you have.
