Thugs with no respect for anything or anyone are now uncontrolable, knife and gun crime are common place, the shooting of an 11 year old in Liverpool by a 14 year old has got to be the last straw surely and the police and government do nothing. It is time for ordinary hard working people to stand up and be counted do you not think.

You were sarcastic answering my question. Here's tit for tat.

Bloody hell, is this what your parents teach you? Take the law into your hands? It is such a disgrace to have parents raising a kid this way.

And even disgraceful that the poor kid did not learn grammar, and did not even learn to spell right. Worse, he doesn't even know that he doesn't know these things, and pretends to be well schooled to arrogantly ask somebody about what he learns in school.

Take this lesson:

"into", not "in to"
"their" own hands, not "there" own hands
uncontrollable, not uncontrolable
crimes are, not crime are

Learn also to use commas. Ask your teacher how because your parents apparently do not know any better

Watching movies about the subject makes us feel good when the good guy gets revenge. However taking the law into your own hands has its own legal ramifications. You as the individual are the one solely responsible for your safety and that of your family. Remember, police are a REACTIVE entity not PRO-Active. They show up when they are called. A person should always be aware of his surroundings and always aware of the people around you. Look at your home and habits and think of what you can do to keep you and your family safe. This is not paranoia it's being responsible. I support the 2nd amendment and believe one should know how to protect ones self. Properly trained you should have a high degree of confidence in that area. Security systems for your home and car are a good idea as well. One thing to remember, even if a person shoots another in self defense you could be looking at large legal fees to justify your case not to mention a possible civil suit from the perpetrators family.

We are standing up and being counted - in elections of our representatives. Are we electing the right representatives, though?

Yes, the police and the government are doing all within the power vested in them to control this kind of violence. The problem is that it is sporadic and personal violence and not organised. If it were possible to have 'thought police' so that a persons intentions were known before they acted, it might be possible to control it.

All violent situations such as the one you refer to, where a boy was apparently randomly killed as he played football, are deplorable. Just today the Home Secretary has spoken out against the 'youth culture' which is apparently involved with this killing and has highlighted the need to deal with it. It is not an easy problem to deal with because the real cure is to change the minds and way of thinking of a whole class of people.

'Taking the law into one's own hands', that is, allowing individuals to act in retribution is NOT the answer ... the ethos of it is so similar to the lawlessness of the criminals that you describe that it really can't be allowed or we shall descend into anarchy. We MUST make the current democratic system work or we shall perish.

I totally agree that the working class needs to stand, be heard and be counted. But....unfortunately taking matters in your own hands is not right answer. I live in the US and we have the same thing going on. People's lives are taken each and every day for no reason. The only way that we can do something about it is to vote, to raise awareness within our neighborhoods, rally, protest. Until higher government really gets the message that we are tired of it, a lot of it will be swept under the rug. It's time for the people to speak!!

I agree. I think we should go postal and start killing anyone who does not respect our right to live! The problem exists within our justice system. Our justice system has become nothing more than a way to launder money out of hard working people. The amount of justice you receive is based upon how big your pocket book is. Hard criminals like child molesters and rapists are walking away free while some petty criminal who got caught with a bag of pot gets 20 years in prison. People have begun not to care. While abortionists are rewarded, people who take accountability for their actions are denegraded and looked down upon. If a young woman gets married she can't get the same benefits a non married woman gets. Our whole way of thinking in America is backwards. When looking back on serial killers it was a major event if one popped up somewhere every 20 years, Now people just kill mass amounts of people in one shot. This happens several times a year. People are losing it. There is just way to much corruption and it is coming from the top. Its called monkey see monkey do.

no they shouldn't even dhow at times we feel we want to. one has to wonder who a 14 year old managed to get a gun in a country that it is supposed to be illegal to own a gun. its the total lack of respect for authority and the fact and the knowledge that kids know there is no punishment for anything they do. sure the first people you have to ask the question where are thees kids parents. when the kids are out at all hours terrorizing the neighborhood .its time to bang a curfew on kids beyond a certain time kids should not be out unless accompanied by a responsible adult . plus if a kid is out causing damage then the parent should be liable for the damage caused and have to pay for to have it fixed. parents take responsibility for your kids. simple as that

Sad to hear things suck over in England like they do here in the states.

Just a few weeks ago 3 bright college bound kids in Newark NJ were shot execution style in a school yard.

One of the killers is an ILLEGAL alien who was previously released on bail for RAPING A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD!!!!!!

The judge who released that worthless POS should share the same electric chair!

There is enough lawlessness in the world without vigilantes taking the law into their own hands. The average Joe is not Judge, Jury and Executioner, and if we all did this then it wouldn't be long before the world fell into totally anarchy. What we need to do is elect representatives into office that have the balls to strengthen laws, increase penalties, and instruct our judges to deal with the convicted law breakers with a heavier hand.

The Law only does something after a crime has been committed. It is up to the people to prevent crime and to try to protect yourself from danger. I do not live in England but I agree with you.

You are right. There are times when the Govt. machinery becomes ineffective or shows a blind eye towards the crimes being committed. Day after day the commoners go through this. There is a limit to this. This is when people take law into their hands. There is nothing wrong if they do it then. the question is what is the tolerance limit?
