I live in Germany, and my sister´s birthday is coming up on September 1st. I want to send her a present, but all I can think of are Birkenstocks because mine are so comfortable.
She is into fashion, and reads People Magazine every week to see what the stars are wearing. Should I send her these sandals and write in the card that they are house slippers?

If she's really into fashion, comfort may not be her first priority. As a self-proclaimed fashionista, I speak from experience when I tell you that we suffer for fashion. I know they are comfortable, but I could never wears Birks, even as slippers. My footwear wardrobe consists of essentially 2 things; high heels or flip flops. Could you find some cute flip flops that we don't have in the US and send them? What about some cute skimmers or flats that are very much in fashion right now? I know I'm blowing the whole Birkenstock idea, but why have them go to waste if she won't wear them? Good luck!

There are some cute Birkies out there. More feminine than the usual kind. Since your sister can't possibly wear high heels (or high fashion) all the time, why not give her the Birkenstocks and suggest she can wear them during downtime (on vacation, at home etc.)?

OK..this is my opinion, you know her better that anybody else.
i would also include her favorite candy or chocolate something that you know she likes on the box with her sandals.
the sandals you are planning to give are very comfortable i personally like them. I'm sure once she try them on she is going to be happy.**good luck!!

send those sandals but don't write that it is for house, let her decide where to wear it.
