A friend of mine from CA would like to send me a letter in TX. My parents would be freaked out if they saw a letter from someone they hardly know all the way from CA.

My question is: Could he send it without having his address on there and just have the sending address [mine] on it?

*there isn't a section labelled "MAILING STUFF" on y!a so i asked it here, sorry*

Yes, he can send it without a return address.
No, it won't be a secret where it came from.

Look at a "stamped" letter at your house. It usually has a stamp cancellation (the wavy lines) on it that says the city where the letter was sent from and the time it went through the machine. I have one here that says: Minneapolis, MN 554, 18 Aug PM.

Sorry, but if you're that freaked out about getting a letter from CA, you're probably TOO YOUNG to be getting a letter from CA. (that's the dad in me talking)

Yes, you can mail a letter without a return address, but if something would happen and it would need to be returned to him, it would just go in a "dead" pile. If you're going to continue to get mail from him, you should consider a P.O. box a the post office, where I live they're only like $50.00 for a year.

Yes - any letter can be sent without a return address, but the postmark would be from the post office it was mailed from.

Well, it would get stamped by the mailing service.
I suggest you wait patiently by the letterbox each morning to ensure you get to it before your parents do
