Can someone explain to me in detail about the nuclear deal?

In what all ways does it benefit India? Why is the Left party so against it? Why is it being called Anti-Muslim?

India is in need of energy ... energy in the means of nuclear energy or uranium etc; which will help us in generating electricity (like this we have enormous requirements) and implementing other projects.

You know that India's population is growing day by day and hence the energy requirement is also growing.

Now, United Stated of America is ready to help us. They are ready to give us Nuclear Power. But, they fear that we might use this energy for other purpose like developing bombs. So, they are telling us to sign a agreement that says

a) we will not conduct any future nuclear tests
b) we will allow any foreign body to investigate and supervise that it is used for useful purpose only etc; etc;

The Congress led UPA govt is ready to sign.
But, left is opposing it ... why? because USA is helping us.

Left and USA are enemies not only in ideology in India but anywhere in this world.

BJP is simply opposing it because they don't want the congress to get the good name by signing the deal. Actually, BJP is more friendly to US than Congress.

They call it Anti-Muslim because USA is supplying it to India. Remember USA as already in war with muslim countries like Iraq, Afghanistan so ... they are telling so.

What these politicians don't understand is?
We are in desperate need of energy and there is nobody else to help us except USA.

Can the Left party leaders go to China and get us nuclear energy?

The crux of the nuclear deal is to bring India on par with the rest of the nuclear powers in the world. Before this deal was stuck India was a nuclear isolated state. Which meant that though it had some nuclear capacity of its own it was neither accepted nor was supported. With the 123 Civilian nuclear deal India has finally found its place in the global nuclear community.
Once the deal becomes operationalised India would be in a position to access global nuclear raw material, technology that helps harness nuclear power(the future source of energy) above all it brings India to the high table of nuclear power, and re-affirms the world faith as a responsible nuclear state.
The problem with the left is that it has ideologically become an anti-US force. The US ideology of capitalism is as far from the Left's communism as anything can be. The Left has been crying foul over the so-called 'anti-national' clauses of the Hyde Act (an Act that governs India specific nuclear policies of US) which the Left says are a threat to the national interest and sovereignity of India.
According to the left the Indo-US Nuclear deal, hampers India's nuclear weapons program by taking away the right to nuclear testing, this is something that the government has at best denied and at worst remained non-comittal. The fact that, even the US has clarified this issue in India's favor hasn't cut much ice with the left.
Coming, to the anti-muslim stand, welll again this is a invention of the conspiracy buffs, who claim that by getting ever so closer to the US by signing pacts such as the 123 agreement India would eventually have to go against some of the rogue nuclear states such as Iraq and Iran (who in left's view are more of old allies than nuclear defaulters) according to the left such a step would be more anti-muslim (read anti-muslim vote bank). Again this is something that is not explicitly clear in the text of the 123 agreement, though a tacit agreement should not be ruled not. Something that I beleive is not wrong by any strech logic and common sense.
So all said and done, the 123 nuclear deal takes India a step closer to being the World's Super Power. Whereas, the hulabaloo around it created by the Left is nothing but political posturing, vote-bank polictics and ideological jingoism all of which smack of such dirty political bent of mind that have slowed India's tremendous growth potential.

All countries which wish to be considered a 'player' in the world want nuclear - it's like a club, if you go nuclear you're up there with the big boys.

India is an up and coming country and will site Pakistan issues as a reason they 'need' nuclear power.

Left wing (socialists) never agree with nuclear - probably because it's use = mass human destruction which really isn't the socialist way.

I am not sure about politician's politics but I will say that this is a great step to take ,knowing that we have shortage of power.
In Europe,France is the country who generates ,nuclear power and then sells to G5 nations.Pollution is minimum in France.
All this coal burning method to generate power is very pollution friendly(CO2)
On the other hand ,nuclear power is very safe,It will definitely help our environment.In this regard, even USA is lacking behind because of Environmental Groups,opposition.In USA decisions are assisted by environmental groups(vote bank).

As we are progressing fast our need of energy is enormous.By taking the advantage of the situation USA jumped in to it and promised us to give necessary help to produce nuclear energy.So all we gain this deal is nuclear energy and limited techonology.We also gain a little good relation with USA and hence will have a reasonable good relation with friends of USA.So that we are with a strong group and we will also have some effect of their stregth as we are with them.Due to this agreement we will not be much pressurasied to stop this nuclear activities. otherwise USA and their allys would have pressurised us in every step.These are the benefits we receive by this agreement .Rest all will be in favour of USA and it's allys.By this agreement our non-aligned policy will be effected very badly .We will not be able to make any independent decision in any international policy whether it is political or economical although it says we are independent.All our policy will be only as per the requirement of USA.Failing which we will have lot many problems in future .We need to continuously develop our nuclear technology as long as this earth exist as every one will continue to advance with this technology.To advance any technology we need testing like all other country .I am sure some time in the future we will conduct the test again depends on the party which come in to power .That is inevitable for us .By that time we would have invested unlimited capital in this deal and we will loose ,all that with one nuclear test.USA want this agreement much more than we.They and their friends will have unlimited financial gain.We will always remain dependent on them.We will not become a power greater than them or their friens.Also this deal will bring down emission of green house gases which is benefitted for all the world.This agreement is in total is like a bait we use for catching the fish. we are the fish and USA is the catcher. This agreement is not against muslim in particular but it is against all those who are against USA and all those who are going to be against USA and against the long term aspiration of the people of India who want to see india as a nonaligned world power ecnomically and militarily. Left parties are against this agreement as they will be always against USA irrepective of their policy.In this case it will be also a vote bank as in the next election they can harvest more votes in this connection.We have the technology and brain .We can build nuclear power by ourself.That is only reliable for all the time .If we build up nuclear power plants by this agreement ,when in real need we will not receive it .All this agreement will be of no use .To be wise and safe , do not go ahead with this agreement as it is .Try to get things by not sacricing our legitimate right to test the nuclear device as and when we like as USA or any other country does.
