General Petraeus has already stated that there is no military solution to the problems in Iraq. The surge is not working and won’t work as far as addressing this difficult and complex situation.

The political solution is stalled. We will continue to lose lives in Iraq because there is no plan and there is no exit strategy. We are given vague, generalized goals while it is clear that the benchmarks are not being met.

Bush plans to try to keep the troops in Iraq until the end of his presidency. The Democrats have to find more effective measures to bring the troops home, in spite of Bush’s vetoes and the Republicans’ refusal to help Democrats override his vetoes.

Well now that depends , think about like this - What is the US doing wrong and how would you do it differently ? Since anyone can come up with an answer that can end this war with Military success in a matter of 3 months or less , you have to believe the people in the Pentagon can as well . So think to yourself - Is this really a surge or just another excuse for the US to stay in war because afterall we have already figured out the Pentagon can end it soon , so why won't they ? Do they want us to stay and why ? Ahhhh I think I got you thinking .

The surge and our soldiers are a success. It is the Iraqi government that is failing. According to their agreement with the US, there are benchmarks they have to meet at specific time periods, and the various factions just don't seem to be able to come to agree on how things should be done. If they stay deadlocked, the US will be forced to leave. But our troops are heroes, not failures and they should not be treated or spoken of as failures. Please try to remember this.

The USA is involved in a war, with Iraqis, Iranians and Syrians, in Iraq.
The USA is conducting this war in the most Ludicrous manner - There is no declaration of war, no free for all attempt to subdue the enemies, and the pretense that it is not a full scale war continues and manages to bewilder the US citizens, while Arabs are quite aware of the fact that they are fighting the US, no holds barred on their side.
The result is a mountain of body bags for seemingly no reason

that statement is so ignorant, hateful and disrespectful to those soldiers killed and their family members here at home.
We are in a war for the preservation of our way of life, or haven't you noticed? And young men and women are putting themselves in harms way for a very noble cause. What's wrong with you?

Just to put things in perspective, more kids drown in swimming pool accidents each year in this country than solders killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. And our soldiers are doing a damn good job over there. Don't believe the anti-American hype that our press and some politicians are trying to feed you, and try to be a little more sensitive and appreciative of what other Americans are doing for you and your children and our future as a whole. Moron.

And of course when a Dem runs a war no one ever dies. I notice that your type never points out how many enemy dead we have for every one of ours.

By the way how many briefings from military experts do you get a day? I am willing to bet it is somewhat less than the President receives.

I think that any successes from here on out are a little too late considering that mission accomplished little speech.

They will say this is only a little hiccup.

Death is good news? So are you telling me that if they come knocking at my door with the I'm sorry to inform you that your family members are dead, this will be good news?

What the government defines as a success and what in reality is a success are two different animals.

I like your pic, but that's all. Success is not measured by the number of dead. About 200,000 US military people died in WWII. Were we failures, then? I don't think so.
