Hi
IT really depends on the magician the politician and the audience I am a magician and was Copperfield's illusion manager/ Pryo guy and consultant for about 6 years and I can tell you even we have good and bad shows where we couldn't get them to pay attention if we were buck naked. But there is a Wow factor with magic I use a lot of themes like Indiana Jones . James Bond . things like that that people imm associate with and it kind of transports them to another place . I love the big illusions and sets and costumes and all that helps to draw people in .
But there are politicians that do the same they associate themselves with issues that they think people want to hear and there are some people that will mesmerize like Martin Luther King, Ronald Regan,Billy Graham etc.
There are a lot of movie stars that will also do thins imagine the last time you cried at a movie its because you believed in the Character they were playing and felt their pain even though it wasn't really them or their situation

I think that we know we are fooled by magicians and they capture our attention because we want to figure out how the trick/illusion works. What you see is what you get with magicians. Politicians on the other hand especially during campaigns before elections will tell every community just want THEY want to hear and we all know once they are in office, talk was cheap…. Priests on the other hand tells you right from wrong and yeah, is that something you really want to hear.

Magician has to capture the attention in order to lure the audience away from discovering how he does the trick.

Unlike politicians and priests (which can often be doubtful), magicians get paid for their entertainment value.

They really believe in what they do for the people, and although it is said they fool the audience, the reality is otherwise, since everybody pays to be fooled by them.

The politicians, priests, and clergies in most religions, on the other hand, do fool the people, pretending to be telling them the truth, all the truth, and nothing but the truth, which is why they are often unheeded, and even lathed.

Magicians are simply more honest than politicians (AND in my opinion that is ALL politicians). Magicians admit that they will deceive you, politicians pretends that they are actually doing what is best for you, and some even believe their own spin.

Magicians are master of illusion. People love to be fooled. This is not to say that the others don't fool people, but magicians do it more dramatically.

Magicians are fun to watch. Mind you, there are magicians running South Africa now, every day a little more of South Africa vanishes into thin air.

They don't take our money and squander it on jets and booze and then try to make us feel grateful for it.
