It's a toss up. I did the biz thing and it was pretty good, but I didn't know about networking and was stumped when I ran into a problem I couldnt handle. It's stressful but so isn't working for someone else. I suspect you get more business skills working for someone for a while in the biz your interested in and even other areas and biz skills are important, like an online course get you through when you have to switch to another one, as your bound to have some trial and errror. On the other hand, my brother in law went to work as a bus driver, that's a big business and plenty of room to moved up gaining managerial skills, as he did along with people skills, although also picking up the bad habits or those he worked with. Financially he is doing much better, but I am at least happy about the fact I went against the crowd, as I don't know where they are going. Bottom line, to me, is a wide knowledge to learn by comparing info in other areas with yours, as all things are related by analogy and it helps a lot if we use comparisons, that's a whole subject, and also we need some depth, preferably in more than one area. The rule is still not to try and do it all yourself. Someone, say for sales and finance and someone for the trade. Or a bookkeeper for finance. The most one person can take on, they say is two areas. Makes sense to me because that's where I faltered. You will do best in the area you have some ability and a love for, the others will suffer, so they say. Sounds good to me. Have you read think and grow rich? The new version by Dr. Pell recommends a team, if you want to get big and networking. That sounds like partners too me. I did see, and I'm sure it's not that rare, one partnership that worked pretty well by having someone in the office, one in the shop and one partner for outside, sales, delivery and I didn't ask more.
All said and done, I think we need to keep up in all the breakthroughs in society today, the new mind shift - how to use the brain, to access our intuitive powers men so often overlook and that are so powerful, and Emotional Intelligence, which is so linked. I have much free info under my profile. Believe me I don't know how I got by all my life without some of this information and I almost didn't. lol With an overview of life, the pieces often seem to fall in place.
