what are the sacrifices and trade-offs you've done on choosing a course that you've never wanted or you're not comfortable with? For example, instead of taking finearts (because you r talented and fond of arts) you took nursing just 4 the reasons that you are forced by your parents,or juz bcoz nursing is so demanding,,etc.

What have you got to lose buy taking a course in nursing? Nothing. If you are not enjoying it, drop it. You may learn somethings you did not know, and may have never known by just concentrating your studies in one curriculum. It is good to try something new once in a while. Explore what life has to offer! Enjoy it!

I was told by my parents to apply for English at uni. I did. I wanted to apply for law. In the end I ran away to........nursing school (So very 1980's!) The consequence has been a fun career in which I have excelled, and occasional regrets that I have never had the career I wanted. Despite going back to uni and getting a BSc and MSc I'm still wondering about changing career.
You can go back to uni again and choose to do something else but you'll have to pay in fees and loss of income. Going to uni is the start of being a grown up. Why not start now? No hissy fits, just think about what you want to do and why and try to explain that to your parents. Many people would disagree but I would definitely not recommend nursing or any other vocational course unless you know you want to do it, it's not the best place to be resentful.

There are so many,,most you probably know. I'll use your example: Being a nurse is in demand,,it is a valuable job,,you may find you like it aswell,,but also you will always wonder if YOU were the next Picasso. You may hate the sight of blood,,also fine art is needed also to expand the mind & soul of the human spirit & to make children wonder if THEY can be that good too(give them something to strive for) Best case answer DO what YOU love and are passionate about. You could end up being a great nurse but miserable too,,,LIFE IS TOO SHORT<<<

In life we have to do somethings that do not make us happy.
Your parents offered you the money to take that course,be grateful and count your lucky stars that your parents care, Your study can come in handy when you loose a husband .or else.
I wished I had the change to be helped financially .I was able to take only the nursing assistant course when I had 3 kids and was in dire need. Have a heart and look at it from a different angle.
yes it is demanding ,but you will get happiness out of it when you put your heart into it. Art you can learn always as recreation and hobby.

Your attitude will make the difference not matter what you do.

Now, I dont agree with parents forcing their children to study things that they dont want to but it happens alot.

All I can say is, make the best of it and find other ways to persue your interests if you feel that you just can not stand up to your parents at this point in your life.

At the very least, your parents should give you a number of options to choose from so at least you have SOME choice in your path ahead.

Bottom line is that YOU are the one who is faced with the consequences of this action, not them. It is YOUR life, not theirs that is being decided and I feel that parents should at least listen to their children before forcing them down a road the child has no interest in pursuing. Of course, not all parents are willing to do this.

Depending on your age and your confidence, are you willing to stand up and go against them? Are you willing to wear the consequence of YOUR choices, if they dont work out so well?

A tough call which ever way you look at it.

What does your INSTINCT tell you?

...I dont think its possible to trade off what you have within you.

An affinity for the arts doesent dissapear because your a nurse. You still have the ability to persue things in this manner. Life situations or circumstances cannot account for every seoncds of every day of chance of persuing another course you feel is more exspressive to your wants and desires..

a question like this seems to be more of making an exscuise to not persue what you heart has clearly descided it wants.. the only trade off here is starving the heart and making your sacrifices mean more then your love.
