Is there anything that you can add to water that when you freeze it the resulting ice will melt slower?

♠ any stuff solute in water lowers melting temperature; unlike other answerers above I conclude that pure-water-ice will stay solid longer than any-water-solution under warming-up; besides a water-solution-stuff has lower specific heat than pure-water-ice which results in faster warming-up;
♣ as I understand you’d like to avoid liquid phase at all to keep your things dry at temperatures higher than 0°C; if so then using sealed blocks available in most modern frigs, or a solid stuff (like HLi) with high specific heat should satisfy our demand somehow.

Well, there is salt and then there is cold air.

The salt issue is explained in previous posts.

The cold air would cause the ice to basically not melt. It is the heat in the air that causes the ice to melt, as well as to warm the surface of the water which speeds up the melting of the ice.

Edit: you could also use Dry Ice. But be VERY CAREFUL with it. and always use thick insulated gloves.

You can add things to water that will make it freeze at a cooler temperature, but nothing I am aware of will slwo down the rate of melting.

Adding salt will cause it to freeze at a lower temperature htan water. Antifreeze will do the same thing.

Salt will do. By adding salt, you lower the melting point of the ice (water), therefore it will not melt that fast.

maybe alcohol? salt melts it faster that's why they use it in the wintertime! but alcohol evaporates and thereby cools [if you ever put it on your skin and blew on it you know what i mean] so the water would or should evaporate slower but the alcohol faster?

NaCl or common salt will retard its melting.

you can add liquid ammonia ,because it's a refrigerant
