The President is sworn to protect the Constitution!
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
It's the Supreme Court's job to amend, interpret and enforce the Constitution not the President's job.
"The Supreme Court has a special role to play in the United States system of government. The Constitution gives it the power to check, if necessary, the actions of the President and Congress.
It can tell a President that his actions are not allowed by the Constitution. It can tell Congress that a law it passed violated the U.S. Constitution and is, therefore, no longer a law. It can also tell the government of a state that one of its laws breaks a rule in the Constitution"
I can't believe people really don't know this.

Unfortunately, the Constitution was written primarily by God-fearing men who never dreamed that it would be twisted into a document that would protect every religion and perverse way of life known to man. All the laws in the Constitution are based on the Bible, so, natually, I'd like to see that stay in tact, but I wish there was some way to re-write the "feedom of religion" part. But, alas, I know that would eventually jeopardize my religion, so I guess the best thing to do is to leave it alone.

Yes. Why did people come to this country if it wasn't for the constitution? Do you see how we're losing our rights becasue Bush is ignoring the constitution and we're becoming more and more of a fascist state. How else do you protect the people from the governement? Doesn't everyone want individual freedom?

Because the "framers" knew the problems in their country and made every provision to keep the government from infringing on the rights of the people. They knew there would be those that would seek absolute power.

The Constitution is a living document that was meant to be updated with the times. If you were to ask our founding fathers if they meant the Constitution to defend child molester magazines, or allow mental patients access to semi-automatic weapons, or have hate speech protected, they'd be shocked
But all of these questions are brought up quite frequently, the freedom of free speech allows NAMBLA to exist (however small their numbers may be), the 2nd Amendment allows guns to be sold to former mentally insane patients, and allows the KKK to exist
