One of my friends did this brand of birth control after her first. It was not good for her she had tons of pain and complications with it and ended up having it removed. I would keep an eye on it and go with how you are feeling. If there is pain, remove it.

I had a mirena IUD put in at the beginning of march this year and although I noticed a gradual decline in my bleed pattern, it has lasted up to 10 days (mainly spotting). My MIL however has not had a period since having hers put in 2years ago.
I just dug out the booklet I got with it and it doesn't say anything about increased bleeding, rather it says you should see a decline in bleeding. It also goes on to say that

" you should have a doctor check it 6wks after insertion and also that muscular contractions of teh womb during menstruation may sometimes push the IUD out of place or expel it. Possible symptoms are pain and abnormal bleeding. If you have signs indicative of an expulsion or you cannot feel the threads you should avoid intercourse and consult your doctor.
If the system comes out either partially or completely you may not be protected against pregnancy. An increase in the amount of bleeding during your period might be a sign that this has happened. Tell your doctor is there is any enexplained changes in your bleeding pattern."

That is just a small portion of the booklet but doesn't sound too great. I would book in with your doctor as soon as possible to check for complications.
I hope that it is nothing serious for you.
Good luck and I hope I've been helpful and not scared you!!

If it's more than a light bleeding, definitely call your doctor. Best bet, call the doctor who inserted it. If they are a good doctor, they will just tell you over the phone if that is normal... I know when I got my mirena put in, I had light bleeding for a few weeks as my body adjusted to the hormones. But any time you have a procedure, if there are questions afterwards, call the doc. just to be sure it's not a sign of something else.
