The green light is not lit up...

that is my modem. I know its not lit up but if you need anymore information just ask

ok i just figured out i have a 2700HG-D whatever that is i know its a modem but i have been searching around and went to the home networking thing did all that then went to my network connections and no wireless network!!! Sorry about my bad puncution.

Actually I think you will find a lot of help with the users guide

Most two wire systems will not show any wireless activity unless there is an active connection. You can log in to the modem to check wireless system -- see page 25 of the users guide for wireless management information.

The green light may only be lit when there is an active wireless connection.

well i clicked the link and page not found but i have a 2wire 2700HG-B gateway/modem for my SBC and the wireless works great you could try going to your ip which in adress bar for me which also ould be for you is 192.168.1.254 and you might have to configure the wireless thats what i had to do.
