I am an attractive woman working in a professional environment..but I find sometimes, when I have a meeting with a male clients & colleagues, they sometimes ignore me. I am well-spoken and contribute to the meeting in an intelligent way so I don't understand. Example - I ask the client a question myself and then he turns round and answers my male colleague! It was me who asked the question…why not look at me and answer to me! Why is this?

2 reasons:
A: They are intimidated by your pressence and charm, you catch them off guard and they never recover. you should be flattered!
B: they are sexist.
When i was younger i had a similar problem (A, not B) but now i have no problem on a proffessional level. If you conduct your bussiness in a proffessional manner, there should be no problems of your own, dont worry about the B's of the world, they think small.

Ican find two possible reasons:
- men don't easily look straight at attractive women...
- in the working area, it is still not easy for a man to accept the opposite gender as equal as him...

They are assuming you are not important because you're a woman. And when you contribute to the meeting in an intelligent way, you scare them. That's why they're doing that.
Also, they're jerks. : )
They're not going to change, either.

becuase a lot of men dont see women as equals in the work place. they think women should be secrataries and thats it.
They dont want a female equal or boss.
Plus they could be thinking that you got where you are by your looks and by sleeping your way to the top
Very easy to explain doesnt make it right but it is most likley why

i dont exactly know what the men think but i think you are a very achieved woman.. strong, intelligent, succesful. men may not want to look at you to avoid any bad ideas (e.g. sexual harassment) or they are just too intimidated by your achievements. maybe youre "the one they cant ever reach".. so they just stay away.
