I mean if you always have to lie or exaggerate to stay in a debate, dont you eventually at least to yourself say..hey something is wrong with my side of things. Do they then realize they are evil since they have to lie all the time, and just resign themselves to be evil lying smearing people?

No, actually I think they are so swept up in whatever ideology they are sharing, that they believe the ends justify the means.

Lying to get "the right people" in office is fine. Stealing elections, taking bribes, spouting talking points and hurling insults, anything and everything to push their point of view or belittle any others.

But it doesn't matter to them if it is evil, because they think of themselves as the "lesser of two evils".

No, they don't realize they are wrong, because people who have to resort to lies to prove a political point are people who believe their own B.S.

Sometimes in a political argument, though, it isn't as cut and dried as considering a statement an out-and-out lie. There are such things as beliefs that can be misguided and wrong, but the believer just does not realize that. Those are the misconceptions that can be excused here.

But to lie, knowing it's a lie, just to win your argument is wrong.

To Eelfins above: yes, but that depends on what the definition of "is," is. -Bill Clinton

I guess to many it comes down to personality issues and taught values.

Some who lie don't care, and they are forever lying to cover up the first one. Some are chronic liars, such as Bush and the current administration, and they really don't care! As long as they can make their money off of our backs, whatever they have to do to get it is OK because they view us a lot like Leona Helmsley, the little people who in the scheme of things, do not matter a bit to their agenda! And they will do anything to get it, including murder, torture, kidnapping and pillage!

No. They're politicians and that is what they do; lie. They're very accomplished at it. Occasionally, one will speak the truth. It happens infrequently and they usually recover from the event quickly, blowing sunshine up the collective gluteal regions of the gullible America public.

Like when leftists lie everytime they say the Nazi's weren't socialists? No, they think they're correct because reality for them depends on what they want, not what IS.
