It is called that because we are sick of the expansion of government, the invasion of privacy by the government, the IRS, Federal Reserve, and we want to restore the constitution and preserve liberty. At this point, that is a revolutionary change, because for the last 100 years, the government has grown exponentially and liberty is being supressed for an illusion of security.

Ron Paul does not have a small following. He has a large number of supporters. Probably close to 10%, but you would never hear the media admit that.

Porkrod - Why do you call it a "cult"? We are not the extremists, we believe in the same principles our forefathers did.

"The main political problem is how to prevent police powers from becoming tyrannical. This is the meaning of all struggles for Liberty." Ludwig Von Mises

"The true danger is when Liberty is nibbled away, for expedients and by parts.... The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men do nothing." Edmund Burke

"It is seldom that any Liberty is lost all at once." David Hugh

"A government big enough to supply you with everything you need is a government big enough to take away everything that you have.... The course of history shows that as the government grows, liberty decreases." Thomas Jefferson

"Freedom has cost too much blood and agony to be relinquished at the cheap price of rhetoric." Thomas Sowell

"If none were to have Liberty but those who understand it, there would not be many freed Men in the world." Lord Halifax

"Liberty has never come from Government. It is always come from the subjects of Government. The history of Liberty is the history of resistance." Woodrow Wilson

"America was established not to create wealth but to realize a vision, to realize an ideal-to discover and maintain liberty among men." Woodrow Wilson

"We will never be through with our fight for Liberty, because their will always be people who do not want the responsibility of freedom, and the will always be people who will gladly take that responsibility away from them, for the power it brings." N. Scott Mills

"In any free society, the conflict between social conformity and individual Liberty is permanent, unsolvable, and necessary." Kathleen Morris

"The object and practice of Liberty lies in the limitation of Governmental power." General Douglas MacArthur

"When the same man, or set of men, holds the sword and the purse, there is an end to Liberty." George Mason

"The argument for Liberty is not an argument against organization, which is one of the most powerful tools human reasoning can employ, but an argument against all exclusive, privilege, monopolistic organization, against the use of coercion to prevent others from doing better." F. A. Hayek

"Of Liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its existence, is unobstructed action according to our will. But Rightful Liberty is within limits drawn around us by the Equal Rights of others. And I do not add ‘within the limits of the law’, because the law is often but the Tyrants-will, and always so when it violates the Rights of an individual." Thomas Jefferson

"No Man is entitled to the blessings of freedom unless he be vigilant in its preservation." General Douglas MacArthur

"Necessity is the plea of every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of Tyrants; it is the Creed of slaves." William Pitt

"Make men wise and by that very operation you make them free. Civil Liberty follows as a consequence of this; no usurp power can stand against the artillery of opinion." William Godwin

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." Samuel Adams

nasty s. - you have a very dimented view of state's rights. State's rights only gives individuals more power, because you can vote with your community, rather than the whole country. You can choose where you want to live, therefore, if you don't like the laws of one state, you can move to another. If you believe that centralizing power to the elite in Washington will do any good, you are overlooking the fact that it would make it easier for one bad president to have total say over what we can and can't do. States can also compete with one another if states have more power than the federal government, and it is in this environment that we are the most free, because if one state passes unpopular laws, they will lose people, and therefore money. It would not be smart to do that. Wouldn't a dictator want to centralize power to himself? Think about it.

I'll give you 2 main reasons why it is a "Revolution" :

Wins Every Straw Poll. He practically wins every internet straw poll that includes himself as a candidate. But in the national polls he never polls more than 3% of the vote. How can that be possible. The majority of Americans have internet access. They have access to all of the polls just like everybody else. Then why does Ron Paul command so much attention. You may say that Ron Paul supporters are the only ones so crazy as to vote in these straw polls.

Dominates in All Areas of the Internet. Well, its not only straw polls that he dominates. He dominates in YouTube subscribers, myspace friends. He is also tops of all the second tier candidates in terms of fundraising even though it is clear he gets far less press attention. His supporters are the most vocal. Maybe they do not resonate with the rest of America but maybe that is because the rest of America has not heard of him yet. It all depends on what happens once they all hear of him, what will happen.

It seems that Ron Paul is one of the only candidates who is willing to fight for the rights of the US citizens rather than the corrupt government elected and big business campaign buys.

Plain and simple he is for change of the status quo - he will bring the country back to its roots when people had control and not the Govt or corporations- he has an army of supporters who push his ideas into the mainstream because the status quo has failed to do so- its a revolution for the people and by the people which hasnt happened in over 200 years in this country . Hopefully the republican electorate will join us too -

Because it gives the followers the impression things will change...

But since they fail to grasp even the simplest of political principals they don't know that the president has as much power to change the law as a Rooster has over the sun rise.

They actually think that daft Truther loving idiot can change policy and laws all by himself. They fail to understand his hair brained and ignorant ideas will never get made in to law and he will barely end up as a side note to other more important presidents if he managed to get elected (and he won't).

They think by grasping on to this idea of change it will bring change, but even our revolutionary forefathers knew they had to establish a government that operated in a similar fashion to the one they had just left. They needed to bring change but to a system that (although flawed) had value. But Ron Paul supporters fail to grasp even that concept.

They think a revolution is great, little do they realize "revolution" mean a loop or circle, it starts at one point and comes right back to where it started.

A grassroots Ron Paul supporter came up with that idea.

I am not a supporter, but I would say that it would have to be a Revolution for Paul to win!

A libertarian is just another republican to me.
Policies that say everything should be left to the states to me is asking for chaos, mayhem, oppression of minorities, and a very unstable union..... a world of dog eat dog, survival of the fittest. A world where govt is powerless to try to have some semblance of a compassionate society....a world where those who are wealthy and are already powerful will have free reign while those who are not...will have a hard time climbing out of their holes.

Ron Paul is to Republicans as Dennis Kucinich is to Democrats. Kucinich has a cult following too but neither is a household name and neither has the charisma to grab attention away from the front runners. It's a shame really...
