No. A few years ago, Mars and Earth were the closest they have been or will be for thousands of years. (Though honestly, the difference between that distance and the distance any other time they're as close as they are now is indistinguishable to the eye.) Since then, every time the Earth and Mars are at similar close points in their orbits (every other summer, if I'm not mistaken), the claim that they're at the closest point starts to circulate. And along with it, idiotic interpretations like the one you're probably referring to. When the two planets are this close together, Mars is the brightest object in the night sky, after the moon. It does not appear to be as big as the moon, unless you're looking at it through a telescope. And it wouldn't, unless it were somehow knocked some 10 or 20 million miles closer.

No, Earth will NOT have two moons.
There has been an internet hoax running around claiming that Mars will be so close to the EArth on August 27th that it will appear that there are "two moons in the sky". Pure bullshit.
Another hoax claimed that Pluto was going to leave its orbit and travel close enough to appear to be as large as our moon on the same date. More hogwash.

No, there won't be two moons in the sky at the same time. You probably saw a stupid announcement going the rounds about Mars drawing so close to Earth that it will be at least as large as the full moon. That's nothing more than a full load of crap..!

I assume you are talking about the moon(s) orbiting the planet Earth. Then there is only one.
When you go out at night and look into the sky, how many do you see?
