Mush: (1) something overly sentimental ("the love letter was really mushy."); (2) a term used to make sled dogs begin pulling the sled or to go faster; (3) cornmeal boiled in water or milk until it is either a thick, soft mass, or stiff enough to mold into a loaf for slicing or frying; and (4) hard to understand or garbled ("His speech was nothing but mush.").
