Do you think the government lies to us, and if so, what can we as human beings do besides conforming to daily life working jobs and paying bills and shifting focus on things that don't matter?

Sorry if I miss spelled things I've been drinking!

Yes, I am. They keep us paying our bills, buying stuff we don't need and busy, busy so we don't see what is really happening. I could go on about this. Radio stations, TV and all of the media. But instead I'll invite you to read some of my 360 blogs about this. I have a link to my real 360 blog in my "about me". You are welcome to add me as a friend if you like. I'm glad you're on to this "governmental mischief".

Yes, I believe the government has been lying to us for years. What we can do is get off our butts and actually take the political machine back from the buericrates that are running the government right now. By voting we can make it a government for the people by the people once again rather than the corportate run pile of bunk thats there now. We are a 225 year old experiment in democracy that is rapidly going down the toilet because the generations that voted are aged and dying and the younger generations are to appathetic to give a damn! If you arent going to be part of the solution quit whinning about the problem. Vote, get politically active, run for office, or pole - there are any number of ways you can effect the political cycle. Keep up with what bills are in front of congress and the senate and what effect they will have on our lives in the long term. If you dont like them call your congressman and senetor and let them know that you dont want them to vote for that bill. There are ways for the peoples voice to be heard. Protest - peacefully and with your clothes on preferably - but let people know you have an opinion. They cant ignore us forever, nor can they continue to lie to us. We arent quite as dumb as they think we are.

We're definitely being lied to.

The really nice thing about the Internet and e-mail is that you can contact your elected officials without having to spend money on postage to mail letters.

Contact your politicians relentlessly. I send e-mails to my congresspersons and senators at least twice per week, giving them my views on issues. They don't always answer, but I know that my notes are at most read by them and at least compiled into "for" and "against" surveys that their staff keep for them about what their constituents want.

Politicians are not mind-readers -- they won't know what you think or want unless you communicate it to them. Trust me, the folks of the religious right a extremely proactive in barraging politicians with their desires -- if the politicians don't hear opposing positions, they'll presume that everyone is thinking that way.

Oh, and I even send courteous but insistent e-mails to Emperor Bush, even though I consider him a traitor and a war criminal.

Anyway, it's not only your right as a U.S. citizen to let your leaders know what you want, but it's actually your responsibility as a patriot to be active in how your government conducts itself.

And here's a star for you, dear. :-)

Oh, and I almost forgot -- don't get your news from the U.S. media. Journalists here have completely forgotten that the press is supposed to be the WATCHDOGS of government, not its LAPDOGS. So, I get my U.S. news from online papers in Germany and Australia.

And when I DO happen across a news broadcast while flipping the dial on those rare occasions I watch TV, and see them crowing about what the "Color Wheel o' Terror" is proclaiming today's threat level is, I thumb my nose at the television and give them a rousing raspberry. All this pavlovian scaring is abominable, and it's utterly sad that people are still buying that crap.

Miss, you look a little young to be doing some drinking. I'm going to give you the advice I wish someone had given me at your age. Alcohol doesn't solve your problems, it just dulls pain for a short time. Sooner or later you need more and more and it will ruin your life. My alcohol problem nearly killed me. Drop the stuff while you're young enough to do so without too much fuss.

I won't slam our government publicly, that gives others the right to do so and that really pi**es me off, but if we want to make this country better we need to start paying more attention to the people we elect and to the bills and laws their passing in congress and senate, when we don't like them we need to notify them and voice our objections, opinions and thoughts instead of setting back and keeping ours mouths shut except to those that can't do anything about it.

i dont think they lie, they just dont tell the WHOLE story. they tell parts to make them look good, like they are doing something to benefit us. i think we should ask more and more questions about the issues and stop worrying about which celebrity is going to rehab and jail next. maybe then the government will realize that we actually care about the issues.

Of course they lie to us... and you can start by not swallowing everything they feed you. Understand what's really happening, how the system works, and broaden your perspectives beyond what you see/hear on tv, radio, and so on.
