when i was pregnant with my son 10 years ago we had pick out the name gabriella for a girl. it wasn't and 2 years later my STEP brother had a daughter and named her gabby. i can think of no other name that i would love more that to name my daughter.

so my question is, do you think it would be totally taboo to name my girl that (if i have another and it is a girl)

No, I dont think it would be wrong to name your daughter Gabriella even though your brothers kid has that name too. If they were to be close in age and hang out together, they'd probably get a kick out of having the same name. Or maybe you could name yours Gabrielle with an E rather than A at the end.

My name is Lisa and I would have given anything to have had a name that was more my own. I was never the only one in a classroom or on a team or even now at work there are 5 in our small company.

I named my daughter Brenna and if you here her name in our town it is either my Brenna or 1 other. She loves that.

I prefer individuality because of my experience but if you really want this name go for it. Just please continue to look for other names and when she is born you will know what her name is when you look in her eyes.

Good luck!

gabriella and gabby are two different names.. even if it was the same name, there is no problem with naming her that... if you think that is weird.. read this: i have a friend who has TWO sisters named amy.. when his parents were together they decided that if they had a girl they would name her amy.. well they divorced and remarried... both of them had girls in their new relationships and still decided to name them that.... so he has 2 sisters around the same age with the same name..

If you like it, use it. It's not like she and her cousin are going to be tied up together for the whole of their lives. Gabriella is a nice name.

I think you should name her what ever you want. My daughters name is Amara Mailee Vinia Rose A*****.She was named after all her Great GM's, GM's and myself. She loves her name, but is going to add an A to Vinia to make the name Avinia. this way her initials spell her first name. LOL :0)
Just remember to enjoy it and know that was the name she was meant to have. Good luck! :0)
