I am about to start my freshman year there and I wanted to know if anyone goes there or to mcgill or generally knows about the area.

Btw-a girl had answered my other post about Montreal (which i accidentally ended) and if you see this I wanted to ask you if there is a way I could get in touch with you because I am studying art and if you are going to design school you seem like a good person to talk to.

Anyone else who is not her, your feedback is very much appreciated.

You did not mention if you were from out of town, but I figured it out from your other post that you are coming from Philadelphia.

Montreal may be a bit of a culture shock when you get here, as just about everything is in French when you are in the city, but once you enter the Concordia campus doors, it will become very multicultural. English and French will likely be predominant.

I did not attend Concordia, so can't be of much help for the school programs and stuff. I can only give you locations of the campuses, such as the Sir George William campus downtown surrounding the De Maisonneuve Boulevard and Bishop Street area. I think if you are an arts student, you will be located here along with the computer science students.

There is a second campus (Loyola) in the NDG part of town, a bit west and in a much more residential section. That is where they have the phys-ed students, as well as (I believe) journalism and business admin.

As for Montreal, don't be afraid to use the public transit system. It is very clean and very safe. If you are a young woman travelling alone, I would not recommend travelling too late at night, but from 6AM-8PM the buses, subway (Metro), and walking should be pretty safe.

Attached below are some useful links for getting around and finding out more about the local area and the local scene.

I don't personally study in university in montreal, but the two english ones (mcgill and concordia) are well known, one of the best in canada, and are strong academically. the people are very nice, and every time i go downtown i'm always surprised by what a good city it is to study in. also, the tuition fees are low compared to other places.

Well, it sure looks like Steven got it right on the button, yet again!

Why isn't he the Top Answerer in this section?!?

As far as your question is concerned, well I didn't attend Concordia (I attended UdeM, sorry!) but I have included a couple links you might find both useful & informative!

Good luck to you & enjoy yourself in my fascinating and beautiful hometown!

I went to both McGill and Con U. It was a long time ago though...Have fun! I really liked Concordia, although even then I was old.
