Unfortunately for hockey fans in Toronto, the club's philosophy is not based on winning.

For years, and I mean long ago, befre Ballard even, the idea of a successful franchise was a butt in every seat. THey have not progressed beyond that. As the Air Canada center is always full to capacity come game time, winning is not a priority.

The Maple Leafs will not amount to much as long as the box office is successful. When the attendance starts to decline then you will see a much improve team on the ice with a possible win in the playoffs. Got to get those @ss in the seats.

For now they concentrate on making money.

The Leafs offered peca a fair contract, Ferguson says peca told him he wanted to play for a 'contender'. This made sense with all the Rangers talk/physical passed, etc

But the last time I looked, the Columbus Blue Jackets were doing a very good impression of the California Golden Seals. It's a great fit for Peca though as he'll play more than he would have in either New York or Toronto.

Had him last year, didn't work out too well then, now that he's a year slower, might not work out much better. I'd prefer the Leafs clean house, take a shot at getting that kid in Oshawa Jr's and build around him. Just making the playoffs is getting old. Time to start over and put together a winner, the current crop is not going to do it anyway.

I love Peca, but I think the Leafs made the right move by not resigning him.

ya i wanted Peca to stay too but i think hes better off this way. he was a good help in PK. i think it would have been hard for Maurice to decide who to put him with. he definitly cant go with sundin. & definitly not with wellwood. so it would have been harder then it is already with Blake added to the line up(i think he will b with Sundin, altho i like Poni & Antropov)

Somebody has to rake the leaves, adn that is way better than being obsessed about money and financial gain, the way that most of our society is. I have the hermit gene, myself, but I don't think our purpose here is to hide in a cave and withdraw all together. We are supposed to find a way to interact. Paul refered to the prophets as men hiding in desert places and living in caves; prefering the company of God to that of men. No man is an island unto himself. Hows that for playing both sides of the line?

Sometimes players choose to go. I'm just glad he didn't sign with the Rangers. I really don't think he would have fit with their chemistry, and he would've put them over the cap. All in all, it wouldn't be worth it for them.

The leafs can't afford him and also don't really have a need for him.

No money for him unless they dump one of their young guys. Ridiculous payouts to McCabe and Kubina are why they are in that mess.
