What is the park officially called? I believe it's just Niagra Falls. It should be referenced the same in composition.

Either one is correct-disregard the previous answer. "A trip to Niagara Falls", implies that you are referring to the town Niagara Falls, NY. "A trip to the Niagara Falls", suggests that you will be partaking in an excursion to the actual falls. However, both can be used interchangeably and I seriously doubt anyone will be so critical of your speech.

The person above me is correct, but let me explain it better:
It is indeed a falls, but since "Niagara Falls" is the name, you would say "i'm going to Niagara Falls". if it was just a genaric falls, you would include the "the": "i'm going to the falls."
see the difference?

First, spell it right: Niagara
The name does not include the word, "The", so don't use it.
