i had a little pain back in july with light bleeding. they said my HCG levels went down, but they weren't below 50. i was feeling weird the other week and i took 6 HPT and 5 came back positive, i went to the dr. they confirmed i was indeed pregnant and drew blood. they called me back today and said my numbers are low 76 i believe?? so they had me go back and get more blood drawn because they were concerned. i don't feel i miscarried back in july. Any one have ANY ideas to what may be going on. im an emotional wreck right now!!! :(

You probably did miscarry if the hospital told you so. I honestly think you are pregnant again right now. Probably about 3 or 4 weeks pregnant. You wouldn't still be showing HCG levels from a miscarry in July.

I would guess that you miscarried. and are now pregnant again. When I found out I was pregnant in June with twins at 3 weeks 6 days I had an HCG of 32. So that number would be low from July, and would suggest you were miscarrying but since the Hospital has already said you did then I would say this is a new pregnancy caught right away. Go in for your blood work and go back 2 days later to have it tested again to make sure it is doubling. Numbers can be low but as long as they are doubling than they are okay.

If you had a complete miscarriage July 13th, your HGC levels should be down by now, gone.

You COULD possibly be pregnant again, complete separate pregnancy, very early.

Also could have been a partial miscarriage, some tisses, embryo retained causing hcg levels to be slightly high thinking your body is still pregnant.

I would ask for an ultrasound, they really need to see what is going on in there, make sure your tubes are clear, or any tissue has not been retained at all or even if they can perhaps see a viable embryo although not sure how soon they can tell a viable embryo verses a miscarry if your not far enough along to see a heart beating yet. I would think they could see the blood flow on ultrasound to see if an embryo was alive.

I had the same thing happen about 2 years ago. Sometimes it can take months for the HCG levels to go down. In my case it took 5 months. What they will probably have you do is come back for the blood test every week or so to make sure the levels are going down. If you truly don't feel that you miscarried, then I would for sure keep getting your levels tested to see if they are going up or down. 76 is pretty low if you are still pregnant. Maybe you are just barely pregnant. Whatever the case, good luck.

Anything under a 5 is considered not pregnant. How far from your LMP are you? EDIT- I hear you about being impatient. I think I may also be "in the family way", and I have to wait as well, the next two weeks will be very long. Usually if you are 3 weeks along, you should have some detectable levels of hormones. But, our bodies aren't machines, and sometimes we ovulate later, so it may still turn out that you are pregnant, just wait and see. You could always try an early result test in a few days if you really think that you are pregnant. Good luck!!

That's got to be so hard for you. 80(

In early May I got a positive HPT result. Went to the doctor and got another positive result (blood test). A week later, I had an appointment with my obgyn, and I bled a bit that day. She had me get an ultrasound. They found nothing. I mean, there was nothing growing in my uterus. No zygote. Nothing. Apparently I had had a miscarriage and it was a fluke that I even took an HPT that came out positive.

The moral of the story: Schedule an ultrasound. That should give you the answer you need (perhaps not want, but need).

Im praying for you truly. However a few years my mom , who was in her mid 40's , miscarried . And it took almost 2 months for her HCG levels to return to normal. I had to take her to the doctor's once a week to get her levels checked out and what happened was she had a tubal pregnancy and it almost burst. They removed the tube but they say sometimes a bit of embryo can attach itself somewhere in the uterus and the body will still think it's pregnant even tho it's not a viable baby. I really hope that's not the case for you . Im not saying this to get your hopes down or depress you I'm just giving an example of why your body could still be presenting itself as being pregnant and why your levels could be the way they are.

That doesn't sound right... if you had a miscarriage July 13th and you are now 3 to 4 weeks preggers, well... I don't think there is any way... When I had my miscarriage the doctor told me I wouldn't be fertile until after I had my next period, and ofcourse I would then have to wait until ovulation. So in total, I would not be able to concieve for another month and a half. I seriously doubt that you had a miscarriage, and if you did, it was before July 13th.

You say you had light bleeding. Did you have a D&C (surgery to clean your womb)? If not, you might have some tissue in there and your hormones are whack.

It is POSSIBLE you are still pregnant but there is something very wrong for that number to be that low.

I guess you could be pregnant again and very early...that's why they want to do more tests, the number should be doubling daily or something like that.

I am really sorry and hope you indeed have a healthy baby in your near future.

One possibility is that you were carrying twins and you only miscarried one. Another is that you got pregnant right away again (happened to me) If your level is only 76 then I would say this is a new pregnancy. Don't stress out, it sounds like really positive news.
