Unable to add new contacts to linkedin account.?

Unable to add new contacts to linkedin account.
In my personal profile I try to add new individuals to my list of contacts. Friends are inviting me to their network but when I select, accept and enter in my email address and password for confirmation these new contacts are not added to my list. I have just started and do not have a large contact list.

Linkedin support has not been able to provide an answer.

Just a thought ... I can't add contacts from Outlook 2007. Are you entering manually, or trying Outlook?
