No your not a traitor and I will tell you why. You see, you are a true baseball fan. Of course you love the Red Sox and they have had many great players in their history and without a doubt Mr. Ted Williams was the greatest. I am a Cardinals fan and have my favorites, Stan the Man Musial is at the top of yesteryear and today is Albert Pujols. But you want to know who my all time favorite baseball player is? Willie Mays! He hit for power (660HR's) played great defense, and could run like the wind! And yes I would wear a Giants jersey with his name on it. So don't worry, if anyone gives you any grief about wearing a Koufax jersey, they simply are not a true and great baseball fan like you are.

It would definitely not make you a traitor. Anyone who knows enough about baseball to want to wear a Sandy Koufax jersey is a great baseball fan in my book.
Anymore, die hard team loyalty is very hard to come by. I know that all those White Sox fans that were there several years ago, became Red Sox fans, and then they became Detroit Tiger fans, and are now Brewers fans.
So by all means, root for your favorite player, even if he is no longer playing. I have been a proud Cardinals fan since I was 7 years old. (nearly 20 years). And Pujols is obviously my current favorite player. If he ever switched teams, I would still root for Albert... unless he became a Cub.

That's alright to do. There are a few exceptions to that though. Since you are a Red Sox fan you wouldn't want to wear a Yankee jersey with that player's name on the back. That would sort of make you a traitor, as I'm sure that player was to either the yankees or the Red Sox. Same goes with every rivalry, but the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is the best sports rivalry, so that one is especially important. I'm a Yankee fan, and I love the Yankees with all of my heart, and if I did get a jersey with my favorite player's name on the back of a jersey of a team they had been on, it would be ok for me. It just goes to show how much I like that player.

If they played a while ago, then it's really no problem, if you ask me. If they're still playing, however...well it could seem like your a traitor to some people. This kind of applies to all sports jerseys; plenty of non-Celtics fans where Larry Bird shirts! Or non-Bulls fans wear MJ shirts.
Personally, if you like the player, I say wear it. Just not to a Red Sox game, or any place that a game might be on TV.
Go Red Sox!!! (and Patriots and Celtics in the upcoming season)

I absolutly would wear a jersey or shirt of other teams. I'm a baseball fan. Sure I have my favorite teams, but I have my favorite players as well. I like to support both. I'm a die hard Mariners and Red Sox fan (grew up being taught to hate the yankees). I wear both Mariners and Red Sox gear, but I also wear other players shirts like Jake Peavy, Brian Roberts and other players that I like.

It's okay to have a favorite player that's on a different team. You can root for anyone you like. However, you pretty much take your life into your own hands by wearing a Dodger shirt, no matter who it is, to Fenway. That's like wearing a Yankees jersey to Fenway. Ridicule and popcorn thrown at you. Okay, that's probably part of the fun!!!

I know what you mean. Being a Giants fan - I loved Jason Schmidt. Now he is playing for the Dogers (Ugh, of all the teams!) All though I love him - I can't seem to root for him as much. Forget wearing a jersey/shirt with his name on it.
I don't think you would be a traitor for wearing another player/team jersey as long as the team is not in your rival or in your division. Especially if it's someone who is a legend. Even if it's Koufax - forgive me for not being too excited but he is a Doger after all.

There is no rivalry between the Red Sox and Dodgers, so I would say you are fine. Now if you put on a Yankees jersey, that is a different story.

I'm a Twins fan and I loved him when he was here. I also plan to sew 13 on my blank BoSox jersee in honor of Doug Mienkiewicz
