I stayed at the Tropicana for my wedding in May and I spent most of my time at the MGM. I had a blast and didn't want to leave that place. There are great clubs to go to and considering that you'll be 21, that is where you will want to be. New York New York is cool too, but I found it to be overcrowded and I felt claustaphobic. As for the Stratosphere, it's pretty far down the strip and away from all the stuff you are going to be wanting to do.

I wouldn't plan too much before you go. When you get there, you can get discounted show tickets from the hotel you decide to stay at; plus if you plan too much, you might feel locked into things and find that you planned too much to actually have fun.

I think the best fun I had there was street-side karoake. There is a little outside bar right across the street from the Belagio. It was fantastic drunken fun. As for a show, I don't know if it will be playing anymore, but KA at the MGM was incredible. It took my breath away. I didn't eat any Italian food while there, so I can't suggest anything for that one (sorry).

Money...bring your debit card with you. My husband and I were not on a budget and I have no clue what we spent. :)

Have fun and happy birthday!!!

Stratosphere is a good mile or more from anything on the Strip. It's kind of the mid-way point between the Strip and Downtown.

I've stayed at NYNY and LOVED it. MGM is equally acceptable. It depends on what you want. IMO: Mandalay Bay has THE best pool - wave pool, lazy river, etc.

For travel planning and show tickets: www.vegas.com <-- thru US Airways and the cheapest packages I've found yet, and I've come out at least once a year for the last 12.

don't stay at stratosphere, mgm is great and is one of the four corners of the center of the strip, but is one of the more expensive ones, new york is way down on one end, as far as food, the buffets are the best best, cheap and u can get itailian as well as other stuff, or there is a really good itailian restraunt right on the strip, or there was a year ago, but don't remember name, just stay on strip, plenty to do there, go see a show or 2, shop, just walk around all the casino's, def. go see the star trek hilton, if a trekie, and def. see the treasure island pirate show, and if u are a lady, or have a lady with u, the gondola rides at the new casino are cool

The Stratosphere is north of the strip near the cheesier hotel/casinos. It's seperated from all the other places by a mile or so. New York, New York is about in the middle of all of the new mega casinos. It's a nice newer casino. MGM Grand is across the street and is the largest hotel in the world.

I used to live in vegas, and go back often oldest son there. soooo-- for lodging, my favorite is new york, mgm, and excalaber, you need to do their dinner show, it is mideveal with each section rooting for a knight, and dinner is served like the mideveal days, no salt, no silver ware, just a tin cup, and chicken and baked potato, they do jousting with horses and all its a blast, as far as lodges, there arent any but ther is a huge water park across from circus circus, food, is the cheapest thing in vegas, but if you want to have a selection like that would just blow your mind go to the rio to their buffet, guarenteed to be a hilight of your trip for side trips I suggest the tour of lake mead or Hoover Dam all along the strip just plan on a walking tour and you will find several things to choose from, usually each casino has shows, comedian, or singers, ect. and all the strip hotels have beatiful pools, the rio is my favorite, what ever you are into you will find guides and books in your motel rooms so you will be able to select your choices, as for money, the motels are all expensive, some more than others, lets face it, even if you dont gamble, the shows usually cost, and vegas is expensive have a great time! hope this helps

The stratosphere is really far from the best part of the strip but its not bad! MGM I recommend or new york new york. The Venetian is GORGEOUS! has canals, and much more or the Paris hotel or Bellagio but they're all expensive but yes those are my recomendations I recomeend you stay in the center of the strip its gorgeous.

first of all, stay at NYNY. the rooms at nyny are very close to the exit so you can get to the strip in no time! do not stay at mgm cuz its too big and you will be doing a lot of walking! at mgm from your room to get to the strip is about a 10-15 minute walk and im not kidding....nyny has a really bad pool...its probablly the worst pool in vegas! they have some really rude people working there too. if u stay at nyny and decide to check out late, lets say at 7:00pm, nyny will screw you cuz they will lock you out of your room at 3:00pm (it happend to me 3 times already!) so you have to the lobby and complain.
bring $1,000 that should be enough!

There is a good Italian restaurant in the Excalibur. Named Regale. We go there everytime we go to Vegas. I've stayed at the MGM, and wasn't very happy with it. The room was dark and that casino is so huge, it was a hassle getting back to my room when I wanted to.

Of your three, MGM is far and away the nicest resort, and the Stratosphere is the best value.

It's going to depend on your budget.

IMO the nicest all around resorts are
