I think "point" is the same as "purpose". There is no point to life unless there is a God.
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (noted 20th century philosopher, mathematician and Nobel Laureate)
When the answerer says something like, "The point of life is what you make of it", what they really mean is that you need to keep from thinking about the pointlessness of life. Keep busy, focus on only good thoughts and do things that will gain you the praise of others so you can build your ego.
Even a criminal, condemned to die in the morning, can laugh at a joke and for the moment, stop thinking about his approaching death. I recently visited with a dying man who distracted himself from thinking about his death by watching old movies.
Honest atheism leads to nihilism and honest nihilism leads to suicide or insanity.
I figure that God put our great need for meaning and purpose into our human nature to point us to seek Him.

Well, I'm tempted to say the point of life is survival... but then I'm not sure what the point of survival is... so ultimately I don't know... I don't think any of us knows for sure... but what's wrong with that... it's still fun... maybe not always, but there are enough good things in life to make it worth it! No one knows what happens after death... one possibility is pure nothingness... emptiness... imagine that compared to what you have now (I'm sure there's at LEAST one thing you would miss)
Here's a lot of other theories on the point of life:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meaning_of_life
But don't worry about what the point of life is... or the lack thereof.. live it to the fullest! I've wasted waaay too much time being depressed over the fact that there might not be a point to anything... when I should've been trying to have a good time... and you don't have to know the point of life to be happy and content with it....
In summary: don't worry; be happy!

The fact that you asked ...is death better shows you don't believe it is the answer. The point to life is,you have been given a life.It is up to you to decide on what you're going to do with it.You said you want stuff really bad,PROVE IT.Make an effort,a lot of efforts to get what you want.Death will come soon enough, try living for a while.Good luck.

Yes, if you are that silly, that stupid and that shallow that you would rather be dead than get a new pair of shoes / purse, then you life is not worth living.
Your probably a constant annoyance to all people around you, just guessing but I would say that based on that question I would guess that you are a lazy, no good, worthless waste of human flesh and do not deserve to live. Bye :)
btw the Point of life, is to Glorify God
God made us so we can enjoy our lives and Give him Proper praise and glory for all he has created for us.
Not to sit around a wyne all day long about how others should entertain YOU !

That question can only be answered by what you believe in. If you believe in reincarnation than think about your life and question if a second life would be better. If you believe in God and Heaven than your answer would proabably be yes, death is better.
This is what I believe:
The point of life is to collect memories.
God puts us here to be tempted and to prove true love.
One of the best things in life is to give and recieve true love.
Mortality, or life on earth is merely a leisure, and when you die you go into heaven and live forever.
If the memories you collect on earth are of breaking laws and going against your faith than you will suffer enteral death in hell.
Choose what you believe in then make the best of it.

In my opinion the point of life is to do something you were born to do. Every one born is a part of the puzzle which is the earth. When we were born we have more opportunities to have fun, and try many things unlike death where you rest in peace looking from above at people having fun.

Life is fantastic. Look at baby animals you can tell a Higher power has a sense of humor. Look around at nature, go hike or something. Stuff does'nt give you the meaning of life, spiritual things are priceless. A sunrise or set. Birds singing, a lone cloud going across the sky, etc. It's all free.

The purpose of life is to proof to God that we want to accept his gift of eternal life. " For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3 v 16.
and
"what shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and loose his soul?" Mark 8 v 36
and
Death? You are a couple centuries late-Christ already died for you. So uhm, you have to try something else. If you take your own life you're as good a murderer and the punishment MAY (I'm not God) be worse than hell.

The only point to life is to make the best of it while we're here.
I sometimes feel, however, that the only peace anyone will ever really find will be in death.
