because he is your boss if you don't like it change bosses but all bosses boss you about and tell you what to do. the pay check you collect gives him that right

because your boss has a need to control others, most likely they were controlled by their parents. People like this strive to be bosses, so they can 'control" others, no matter how bad a boss they are.

My boss tells me what to do, but she (the manager) or he (the shift supervisors) don't boss me around.

That's what they do. It's not that they are jerks. Their job demands them to be jerks. Don't take it personally and know that probably, your boss goes back into their office feeling bad about having to give you a hard time.
