During my Sr. year in high school, we had a MOCK voting to practice how to vote in real life. Well, I knew nothing about politics & the differences between Democrat & Republican. I voted for Bush. This was back in the year 2000. Everyone got mad at me & started throwing things at me & they all voted for the other Democrat president. I don't remember who he was. & everyone hated me ever since then. I didn't know who to vote for, & we HAD to choose something. This was for a class grade. Now that we DO have Pres. Bush, I feel bad. I still don't know anything about politics & I'm almost 24 with a college degree.

I'm sorry that happen to you. I'll bet that incident was enough to keep you away from politics for a long, long time. It would me. People get so ugly about their politics. Don't feel pressured by those around you.

Of course you didn't deserve for this to happen. If it were a REAL mock election, everyone's vote would have been anonymous, so these idiots who treated you this way did not even know how to stage an election. Everyone vote should be private; this is the law.

I never tell anyone who I vote for. It is not anyone elses business. And hindsight is 20/20.

You have nothing to feel badly about. Many of us don't know much about political issues. How can we when we can't trust what the media and the candidates have to say?

No, you didn't deserve this. You voted (based on how much you knew or didn't know) just like most of the public voting in every election. You DO NEED to get better informed ~ so start reading the newspaper, listening to the news, watching debates, and learning what issues affect you and how the candidates stand so you can VOTE informatively. It is your duty as an U.S. Citizen voting for representation in all offices from the President on down to local government.
BE INFORMED and VOTE ACCORDINGLY.
P.S. Even people who voted for Bush, and knew what they were voting for, regret it now. So goes the world of politics and these lieing cheating candidates who get into office.

I could understand it had you voted for Kerry! Seriously, it was pretty dumb for them to treat you that way. If their still hating you for a mock vote, their not worth hanging around with anyway.
Hey, my husband and I both have our own minds, we sometimes vote for different candidates. Its called letting each other have their own opinion.

Now what I would not do is vote for someone because,"they are so good looking" or because, "they are a women." Stay home if your brain takes you no further then that.

To me it sounds like they are not very nice. I bet they have parents who watch CNN all the time. If it was a "MOCK" voting the teacher should not have told your vote. I don't even know who my husbands votes. Any way at the age of 18 who gives-a-**** about politics.

Don't feel bad. I didn't know too much about politics back in highschool but I knew a rethuglican would screw everything up and unfortunately I was right. It takes some time and especially since this country is so divided now and how everything is misconstrued. I'm sure there were hardcore republicans that are now democrat or independent thanks to Bush and company ruining the republican image.

Forget about what happened in the past. My advice would be to research each & every candidate before deciding who to vote for. I can't stand for people to vote for someone just because they belong to one particular party or the other. Here... Do some research on Dr. Ron Paul... He is the only candidate that I believe can save this country from going bankrupt, among other things... http://www.ronpaulaudio.com

P.S... As long as you do research, It's your decission on who you want to vote for. Don't just go with the crowd. Think for yourself.

Who acted badly here? You or the other students? Obviously it was the raunchy group of democrats, not you. So doesn't that in itself kind of tell you something? I voted for Bush both times and I don't feel bad about it. By the way, in real life your ballot is confidential and no one can legally ask you who you voted for.

You might not have deserved such hard treatment, but how hard would it have been to just do a little research? Seriously.

P.S. I was in second grade in 2000, and even I know the name of the Democratic candidate: Al Gore. There was even a whole big argument over the outcome of the election. Honestly, you should look it up some time.

Your question made me recall a great line from "Sky High" - "If life suddenly became fair, I don't think it would start in high school."
