Does anyone know a way to work out your chest more with a pushup? Like, i try spreading my arms farther out, and i cant really tell if it makes a difference. I even tried putting my legs higher then the rest of my body.

Place arms as wide as possible to work lats & upper chest Put hands side by side & keep elbows in as you do the pushup for your triceps. Putting your toes on a workout ball or a basketball will help your abs more. One hand on the Bball then switch everytime you come up. Both hands on dumbbell so you can have a bigger range of motion. Both hands on one Bball. Each hand on a Bball. When ya get done with those ask for more.

Well, another good way to build arm muscles can be to do a sport like Karate? or some sort of martial arts? Maybe Muay Thai or kickboxing? I'm relatively thin, 105 pounds, 6'1" and my arms have always been thin, but since joining Karate, I've seen a noticeable difference in muscle size, the cuts are more defined now. The techniques taught emphasize use of your entire arm, and the warm up and other exercises such as push ups etc etc helps too. You can try this, and not have to worry about jeopardizing your height later on. I recommend going with the Kickboxing or Karate, personal experiences

Make a triangle with your hands and do a few push ups ( Its suppose to hurt like he11 after a few) Do them on your fists to develop wrist muscles plus you get strong knuckles. Do clapping push ups ( do a push up and push off the ground so you can clap) You can also do clapping push ups on your fists.Do them on your fingers ( Ouch) Put your legs on a higher surface (maybe one to two feet above) and do them ( It puts more weight on your arms) Also you can add weights ( dont know how ur back will like that) or do planks( just hold a push up position) and if you strong enough put ur legs on a high surface and hold a plank for a minute or two. That's all I got...

Try placing your hands a bit closer than normal to your feet, then doing the pushups with a circular motion, swooping forward on the down stroke, and circling back up high. We used to do this in a MA class. We did it with the backs of our hands down on the mat. I don't know if that makes much difference but you could try it both ways.

Keep your legs normal. The further your arms are out, the more it will work the outer part of your chest. Bring your hands closer togther and it will work the inner chest. Do a variation of both. The them in a controled manner, dont do them in a wild manner. Start out doing them in sets and work your way up from there. You will see a difference in your chest, triceps, shoulders, and back!!!

pushups with the hands together will benefit the pectorialis major mass (chest muscles) near the centre, so focusing on that will build up mass will have an effect of "closing up the cleavage".
doing them with the hands wide apart serves to expand & grow out your ribcage bones & give the outlook of a wide chest overall.
For overall best results in terms of mass & shape place the hands at just outside shoulder length.
The other types of common push ups are raised legs push up, Commando push ups (pushing yourself up & clapping the hands in mid-air) & Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) push ups (one hand

I'm familiar with three kinds of pushups: wide arm, normal, and close hands (hands are touching each other.)

Why not get a bar and try pullups.
