Why do you need a co-signer? Lots of apartments should take you. Now a bigger more expensive complex will check income and credit. But smaller places usually do not have such extensive checks.

Some times if you offer a double down payment and explain the situation of why your credit sucks or explain why you don't have a co signer. Sometimes if you show that you have pd bills on time. Then they will allow you to move in. Sometimes I think you might as well buy a house if you need a co signer for an apartment.

But finding someone that needs a roommate is a good idea too.

Hi do you not have enough money as it is?

Why not look for a room-for-rent? They are usually ppl who are looking for someone to share the cost of their rent but not the benefits of their lease.

Or ask about co-op apartments (they are usually income-to-rent situations).

Good luck
