Question

This is my experiment.


I asked two questions at the same time, both in fairly popular categories. One was about celebrities, and the other was about world hunger. See for yourself which got more answers.

What do you think about this? What does this say about our Yahoo Answers community? Why do people focus on trivial things like the sexiness of people they don't even know, as opposed to WORLD HUNGER? How do we change this?

I think that this is a awful situation. How can more people be worried about celebrities than people who are dying becuz of what is happening in this society. You should seriously make a poll of what other people think and/or contact the people who run this site. I think its pretty disturbing how people think and I guess it has something to do with free will. What is happening to our world is all I can ask to this shock of reality.

I think it's that people would rather focus their energy on things that don't make them sad. People are so much more concerned with trivial issues because they allow us to stop thinking about the fact that the world has gone to hell in a hand basket.

Something like world hunger should be a lot more important than celebrity obsession, but unfortunately it's not. Admittedly, Yahoo Answers does have quite a large population of teens and tweens who are a lot more concerned with superficial issues such as getting Miley Cyrus's phone number. Unfortunately there are also a lot of smartasses on here and while that could be a good thing with some questions, I think that a serious question like ending world hunger warrants a more concise answer than "feed them! duh!".

hum we know less and lesser epople are getting the noble peace prize award!....it's like those days are over when an individual would rise up with all their might for a purpose and don't give up until they are heard. the world is so focused an all the celebrity issue especially in America..all movies, music, phones ( technological) and stuff like that is taking over the world....people are wanting more!
it will change with time. people will get fed up!
but hey, this is the time for people like you to make history so you go ahead!!!! ( you can start here on YA by combining them both in questions, like which celeb is more humanitarian or whatever else, why, how do you think its affecting them and the society, would you do it ..... ). it's all about marketing...for example,you are already getting many answers to this particular question!!!!!!!!!

I knew what I was going to see before I even looked. Why? Because that's how it always goes. A lot of people don't want to be bothered with thinking and important issues. They'd rather answer silly, fun or just interesting to them. World hunger doesn't cut it for them. Pretty sad, isn't it?

That is unreal as you had 38 answers on who is the sexiest, but only 4 answers on world hunger. That tells me that people would rather have sex than eat.lol Really though, jokes aside, that is a crying shame that people could care less about others being hungry, but care more about who is the sexiest. What has this world come too.

there is a guy that is always on this intersection we take often and the car in frount of us gave him a dollar for mcd's on the corner and my dad started saying preety mean things. maybe i should give him a dollar next time and see what dad says!!! xD

I think this doesn't only apply to the Yahoo Answers community. The whole world is caught up in the little things that don't matter much. My guess would be it's because they are things that don't need much thinking and heart.

Psst.. .that's why everyone believes the media. What the media says is ALWAYS right. It's like the media is a dictator over the world... it controls the way we think, our minds.... it tells us who to love and who to hate, and what is cool and what isn't. And no one cares about the world.
