Copied from another post I just replied to regarding abortions. Good luck with your decision.

Unless you are very fortunate and lucky, you won't find a clinic that performs abortions for free. Most will charge (even Planned Parenthood) around $300-$500 for an abortion, whether it's the pill method or the "surgical" method.

For the pill, you just take a double dose of a pill, I believe it's the Plan B pill, then wait for the pregnancy to "fail" and your body to excrete the pregnancy out. Sometimes though, you might still have to get the surgery option just to get everything out of you.

The surgery option usually consists of a vacuum aspiration, where you are given a sedative (your choice of being fully awake, partially awake, and completely put under sedation), then basically they stick a vacuum up inside you and vacuum out the pregnancy and any tissues related to it. This has the highest success rate.

With either option, you will get a checkup both prior to the abortion itself, and afterwards, usually a week or so after, to make sure the entire pregnancy was removed, and there are no complications.

With either option, you can return to your normal life almost immediately after, although with the pill option, you most likely won't want to do anything for a few days since you'll have lots of cramping, like you're getting your period.

You are speakme approximately plenty of unrelated tactics. RU486 is not anything you're taking for an extended interval of time you get a few capsules at the first talk over with to the general practitioner, you're requested to go back a couple of days later for an additional capsule, and at the fourteenth day to be checked. Its advocated handiest below seven weeks gestational age. Ultrasound does not motive abortions. Its performed to inflict as so much emotional misery as feasible at the lady in need of an abortion, both that or they consider ladies are too dumb to understand that pregnant manner you could have a child. There are 2 style of ultrasound on the subject of the present obstacle, one is regular ultrasound used within the being pregnant to ensure the whole lot is all correct and the whole lot is within the correct location so not anything will come as a shock for the period of supply it is composed of a probe run throughout external of the lady's stomach. And the opposite is the transvaginal ultrasound, used right here in order that the blob that's the fetus may also be proven to the lady. That's the invasive variety anything needless bodily inserted for no greater intent than to develop misery within the sufferer. It serves no clinical train or intent. All abortions, whether or not caused with capsules or devices are invasive, however that's a alternative now not mandated by way of state or remedy, its as much as the lady if she wishes one or now not. The state legislation that desire to mandate invasive tactics do not enable the lady to make the alternative, the state says you have got to. It provides to the bills too, as a few states say just a clinical general practitioner and now not an ultrasound technician can participate in them.

I wish your girlfriend would reconsider. Even if she does not want a child, she could give the baby up for adoption? I do not mean to offend, especially if she needs the procedure for health reasons. It depends on how far along she is. Some people are not far along, and I believe they are given medication and spontaneously abort. Further along, and she has medication to open the cervix, and then the contents of uterus (a baby) is vacuumed out. I don't know if those things are free in BC- I certainly hope not. In the US you have to pay for such things.
