Buy the book bartending for dummies....I think that there also may be a waitering for dummies book as well but I am not sure. There is a great book called "Service That Sells" that gives great advice/tips fro waitering.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of drinks in the world. And, some restaurants have different receipes for the same drink. If you want to know the main types of different drinks check out some websites (look up alcoholic drink receipes). Most of the websites will give you a list of the most popular drinks and their receipe.
But keep in mind...only a small portion of your service is going to be alcohol, mostly it will be food sales. Unless you actually work in a bar not a restaurant.
