Poke a hole in the box and peak out first, then if you like what you see, climb out and experience life, real life.

If you know there is an "outside" of a box then you are no longer inside the box....so congrats....you are now outside the box....

The whole idea about thinking outside the box is about asking if there was another way....if you ask and searched hard enough...you will find an alternate way....

Seperate your mind from your body.

Your body is a "box" per se, and your mind needs to be let out into the world by itself.

Don't think with your emotions or feelings at that moment.

Think about all the possibilities and everything from a broad perspective.....like looking at it through someone elses eyes.

This is a literal interpretation.

The expression refers to the confines of our beliefs. The boundaries of our thinking that we chose to confine ourself with.

For example, if you maintain the belief that something is impossible, you will be unable to come up with a problem solving strategy. If you believe any problem can be solved, you will open your mind/thinking to new possibilities. Words such as can't require us to think within the box. Replacing "can't" with "won't" allows the mind to work in ways that you hadn't considered.

Reading helps a lot.

I mean you have to tell us what box you're in. Society's box? A cardboard box?

put yourself in someone else's shoes. like if you were "so and so", how would that "so and so" think?

try to explore new ideas, relax and let yourself go, don't stick to the same old formats, strategies, ways of thinking you're used to.
