federal court attorney will not take inmates phone calls because it is a collect call, is this within the attorneys ethics and responsibility deemed by judge?

pls take your complaint to the judge

were i such an attorney, i'd refuse such calls too unless i had something i knew needed communicating.

adequate representation is what is required, not hand-holding.

It is probably acceptable. Attorneys are required to meet with their clients regularly in order to give them good representation, but that doesn't mean they have to take a phone call any time the client wishes to talk. The client can complain to the judge, but it probably won't do much good.
