We are learning about using sources, and i have a question. So here are all the sources, Textbook, Internet, Historians, Teachers/Elders, Art/ Architecture, Periodicals, Archeology, Cemetaries, Death/ Birth records, National Landmarks, Diaries/ Letters, DNA. So can you tell me if these sorces are either secondary or primary sources. And heres what i know what secondary and primary means:
secondary: didnt witness the history
primary:witnesses the history
But i have no idea if that right, so correct me if im wrong
thanx!

Primary sources - the main sources you use for your report. They need to be credible sources such as witnesses (as you said), textbooks, encyclopedias (not wikipedia), and other sources you listed.

Secondary sources - sources you may use like Yahoo Answers. Also, some internet and other sources that may not can be be verified as the truth.

Primary sources should be sought if at all possible. Secondary sources should be used only if absolutely necessary and cited as secondary sources.

i think you have the right idea. i think primary sources are like historic, real ones.. like the real, original decleration of independence or something. and secondary could be a source like someone could have lived during the civil rights movement & wrote a book about it.
