It's 5 blocks and, depending on how fast you walk, should take only 10 minutes.

Never been in that specific Marriott, but they are all pretty much the same. Its a nice hotel, I personally like smaller places but its got a good location. Speaking of location, you can easily walk to the ballpark from there, it would take about 15 minutes, depending on your walking speed. The n'hood (China Basin, where the park is, and further up under the freeway) is fine during the day and the evening when there is a ballgame, tons of people walking around, no worries there. Go Giants!

which one? There are two. one in downtown and one on fisherman's wharf. either way, that's a really long walk. I would recommend taking public transit. If you are at the Fisherman's wharf hotel, just grab one of the street cars running along embarcadero. it is 3.7 miles total from fisherman's wharf. however, if you are staying at the one downtown, totally doable on foot. only 3/4 mile straight shot down 2nd street which dead ends at the park.
