If you are doing your job right, you have nothing to worry about.I have been in the hospitality business and some work environments are just filled with gossip, envy and jealousy, unfortunately. So I was there to make a living,I went, did my job and left. Some places are stricter than others with their sidework. Just follow the proper way of doing things and nobody should be on your case.Your main job there is to make the customers happy.

To really answer your question I'd need more information about you and your work habits versus your coworkers and their personalities.

What I mean by this, and I'm just being honest with you, is that I've seen this happen before in every restaurant I've worked in and there are basicly two reasons why this happens.

1. After you've been there 6-8 weeks, you no longer can use the excuse of "I'm new and still not fimilar with all the procedures". When you just finish your training and start working on the floor by yourself, your coworkers will usually cut you some slack if you don't do everything just right. But after a while they will start expecting more out of you because by that time you should have the basics down and be moving on to perfecting your working habits. Therefore the more that they expect of you, the more it seems like nit-picking because they've not done that in the past.

2. Some times if you don't try, or they don't try, to integrate yourself with them, even though you may not have a lot in common, they will not be open to you anymore. They will not know you and feel like you don't fit in with their group. Unfortunately, and keep in mind I'm a 20 year serving veteran so I'm saying this about myself too, restaurant employees are like a pack of wolves. Just like in a wolf pack, there is an Alpha male and female and then a pecking order on down. It's a very close knit environment that you have been, by choice, put into and now you have to find your place and fit into it. And the only way you can fit into it is by earning their respect, just like in a wolf pack. So be patient, jump through their hoops but show them that you are invested in the team and are strong enough to carry your part of the load. In the end you'll earn their respect and they'll stop the picking.

Maybe your not in the right field of employment. Otherwise do what the management request of you. If you can go above what is asked to show your able to take on more tasks the more management sees your talent level and be impressed. But you use the time of practice, increase your skills. Forget about those others, your not there to make friends, its money! learn all you can and then take it to another level, move up or on to another place for more pay. Let those others look bad by not doing the job, while you grinding it out going above and beyond the call of duty, all along you gaining knowledge of how a business is run, and what it takes to run a business. Trust me it will payoff in the long run. Rise and shine above those who don't want to do anything, and learn and get the experience. What you put into it, is what you get out of it. Good luck to your future.

have you done something to offend, annoy your co-workers? restaurants are full of women workers (usually) and this passive-aggressive behavior is a woman's way to combat someone she doesn't like....i would try to not gossip or talk behind people's back, do all my side work and try to be helpful to others and be a team player, just generally do the best that i can do and make sure i'm not falling into the typical women trashtalking behavior that runs rampant in the work place...if you do all this and it's still happening stick your chin up and remember that work is work, leave it there and don't let it bother you anymore.

Since it has happened before, then it must be you.
Maybe you are not a very good employee and the others are trying to help you by pointing out your mistakes.

This sadly happens in every restaurant I've worked at. If it's some annoying co-worker, just ask you boss or supervisor about it. If it is your boss, then just do as your told and move on.
