Monitor it very closely. If you have an on-call doctor, give him/her a call and explain the symptoms. If not, at 105 I would suggest that you take your baby to the ER.
In the mean time. Lots of fluids. Do NOT put your child in a cold bath, that is so uncomfortable and given how high the fever is, can shock his little system. Strip him of everything but his diaper. By wrapping him in blankets and clothes, your insulating the heat, only making him run hotter. Take a cool cloth, not cold, not warm, but in-between and gently lay it on his head to reduce the fever. Take another cool cloth and rub his back down. He won't like this, but it's better than a cold bath.
If he continues to run a fever this high, over the next hour or two, take him to the ER.

Be safe and take him to the hospital. Little ones still have a hard time regulating their body temperature on their own at this point. Be on the safe side because 105 is rather high.
Don't warm him more and if anything keep the fluids coming and get him in a cool bath to bring down his temp. Keep a fan on him and let him just hang out in his diaper. All the best to you both.
Brain damage is rare at 105 unless the child is trapped in a hot place.

105 is a pretty high fever. Check his temperature again once the Motrin has had a chance to kick in. If it's still around 103 or above, your safest bet is to take him in. Better safe than sorry :)
The worrisome part about a fever isn't the temperature itself, it's the infection that is causing the fever. A trip to the urgent care could help to diagnose his illness and start him on the road to recovery.

Usually if a fever for a baby is 104 or over its best if u take him to the emergency room. but if it went down then a cool but warm bath would work or fluids too. But if the fever goes back up don't hesitate to take him to the emergency room, your baby can have a comboltion (however you spell.)
hope he gets better!!

Call your baby's doctor. Or take him to an urgent care center.
Sure, it could just be a virus. But with that temp, I prefer that the baby be examined.
