I have been on birth control for the past seven years-my periods have always been on time-down to the second. I had a boob job a month ago so my doc told me to come off of birth control to prevent blood clots and surgery complications. So, my period ended the day before I was scheduled for surgery and I finished my last pack of pills the day before surgery also. My period was supposed to start a week ago, but it has not. I took a HPT and it was negative. I was wondering if this was normal...I mean, my body went through a lot due to the surgery and I heard it's common to miss some periods after coming off the pill. I had unprotected sex twice with my boyfriend after I had my surgery, but he did not finish in me. I just wanna know what's going on....I couldn't be pregnant, could I? I'm just a little worried...maybe it's a combo of both the stress of surgery and coming off of birth control after being on it for so long that cotributed to my missed period. I just don't want a baby!

While it's quite possible the lateness of your period is due to stopping the pill and the surgery, I WANT TO WARN YOU OF SOMETHING. I'm saying this from (unwanted) experience.

When you go off the pill - you are WAY more susceptible to becomming pregnant. I'm sure you realize that BF pulling out is NOT a guarantee!!

Please if you don't want to get pregnant, PLEASE take precautions. Let your BF know it will only be for a short time til you go back on the pill. DO NOT TAKE THIS RISK.

You system will take a little time to get used to functioning on its own. Give it a few months and be sure to keep track of your periods. Then if you need to go back to the dr. you'll have good info in hand.
In the meantime, pls use some other birth control. You're playing with fire.

You are probably right about it being the stress. How ever just to be on the safe side, wait 3 days, then take a pregnancy test.
