Its easy, just go to Control Panel--> User Accounts-->Change Account--> then add a password. Make sure you are the 'Computer Administrator also.

The only secure computer is one that isn't on. Sorry to share the bad news. Now that being said there are ways to make your system more secure. Enable user account and increase system logging to track user actions. Enable a system based firewall. Install a good virus program. Finally use caution when reading email, browsing the web, downloading and installing programs, etc. There are other tools that watch file access and changes that will let you know when file have changed but this may be more than you want to deal with. all the previous suggestions will work, but if the person trying to get into your computer, they will.
The only true way to secure your computer is to have a removeable hard drive that you take with you, then of course you hope you don't lose it.
all the suggestions can be bypassed.

Use a password lockout, meaning most computer's are password protected, not but all use a name as simple as your pet's name something really only you would know!

are you talking wifi? then download ecryption software, or put a password on your computer so no one can break onto your account if thats what you mean, be more descriptive

If you go into your BIOS settings you can lock your computer on bootup (it will not load to windows) and requires a password to proceede to windows.
