you make perfect sense.
but i am not sure that either is true. i cant really offer another option though.
i am basically an atheist, but i must discount the "you are your body" option for this reason.
imagine that nano robots or magic or whatever creates an exact duplicate of you in an exact duplicate of the world at the time when you were born. not one atom in that whole universe being any different. now poke the duplicate with a stick. i would bet that the original you would not say ouch, because that is someone else. in other words we are apparently not just the sum of these parts. but there is some distinction between you and your identical duplicate and it is the difference that makes you you. and this difference is not a physical one.
now, am i making any sense?

Your body is composed of you as a physical being it is were your soul rest. However, the body you are into will decomposed when there is death, your soul will than reach for another body to use its sheltter. The new body is a different physical being but the soul remains the same.

As an atheist I don't believe in a soul, but at the same time I do tend to regard my body as just a vessel (and a rather poorly designed one at that). I'm hoping to live long enough for science to overcome that pesky dying problem inherent in these inefficient, fragile biological platforms--er, bodies. I'm rather eager to migrate my mind to a speedier, more durable, and upgradeable non-biological form.

I do not feel that my physical form is a very accurate representation of my inner being. I feel like I'd be better represented as male, in the least, but alas I must deal with what I have.

My body and I have always had a strange relationship.

I believe in both. You are only going to feel good about yourself if you treat your body well. Additionally, the same goes for your soul. There are times that I feel I am floating along in life just waiting to go "Home."

If we kill your consciousness, your body will soon follow. If we kill your body, you consciousness will also expire. They are connected, integrated, or any other of the words that express the same concept.

While I would have a conversation about remove and transporting the consciousness of a human, to date, this has not been evidenced in any way, shape or form.

Me and my body are one complete person but once in a long while, my mind will detach itself away from it and I'll feel like i'm coming 'un-glued' physically. It's freakishly creepy. Don't know what causes it.

Your body is the Temple of God. He wants us to eat right and do right to protect us. The flesh is just flesh and can be led to harm us if we don't follow God Laws.
I agree with you.
