Tru Blu... Could you possibly make any LESS sense. You say race does matter, that others get away with stuff, but not Vick. Presumably because he is black. Then to prove your point you trot out Leonard Little, Ray Lewis, Jamal Lews, Lawence Phillips....Ummmm THEY ARE ALL BLACK YOU DOLT!! Then you compare Goodell's handling of Vick's potential suspension....by the way he has NOT been suspended yet.. to what the others got for their transgressions. Well, Goodell wasn't even the commissioner yet. COMPLETELY irrelevent.
To answer the question, yes there would be the uproar if Vick was white. Want an example. Mark Chimura. Was very successful and nowhere near the end of his career. Got caught with an underage girl in a hot tub. Boom, cut, gone from the NFL. Now were there demonstrations in the streets and never ending media? No, but Chimura wasn't arguably the most popular player in the game either. My point is he was white and when he did something disgusting, he was out of the league and no one wanted anything to do with him. Now, expand his stardom by a few exponents and you can see the Vick thing may not be so over-blown.

All these people are idiots...If Vick were white he would already have been lifetime banned from the NFL and the media abroad including black supremist Al Sharpton and the super hipocrit Jesse Jackson would have called for his white testicles on a silver platter. Take your blinders off people, the sweet picture you try to paint would be nice if it were true...instead we are faced with a question that has been proven over and over again. Micheal Irvin recently said on national TV that Tony Romo is only as good as he is because his great, great, great, great grandma must have pulled a mandigo from the barn for sex and therefore Romo has black in him. Most people didnt even hear about this. What would happen if a white person made this kind of statement...lets ask Imus, or Jimmy the Greek Snyder. There isnt enough space here to make a list of all the reverse racism going on around us...wake up white people and realize that there can never truly be equality until blacks cannot make a gain from playing the race card.

There wouldn't be as much of an uproar about this if he was white. But race aside its obvious this is an uproar because he's an NFL QB, a once highly respected one at that (Made the Madden cover). White or black, this would have barely been a headliner if he wasn't in the NFL. This isn't a race issue, it's an image issue, which to the fact the NFL's image has been irreversibly damaged.
But of course him being a minority will add extra drama to the whole ordeal.
White male 20 yrs old.
5 thumbs down about that one huh? What exactly was disagreeable about that? It's undeniable people are turning this into a race issue, open your eyes, read a paper. With that comes more of an uproar. Had the player been white, that's not there. Once again, not to suggest it wouldn't be a big deal, but people wouldn't be mentioning the race aspect of this had the guy been white, and that's representing a considerable amount of conversation among the media and public (case in point).

if vick was white, odds are he wouldn't have been hanging around with the founders of the bad newz kennel club, aka the dog fighting ring. even though we have come a long way over the last few decades, there is still a racial devide between whites and blacks and other races.
tru blu etc, you completely went against your point of saying that race is an issue by using Ray and Jamal Lewis in your point. in case you havent noticed, they're both black.
it is statisticly proven that a higher percentage of African Americans engage in gambling. this isn't because they're black, but rather because of the life they grew up in. so many young African americans grow up in poverty listening to music glorifying sex and crime. these kids learn at a young age that the best way to get what they want isn't always in line with the laws. gambling takes many forms, some of which wouldn't have been such a big deal. if vick had sponsered horse races or a casino, it wouldn't have been a big deal.
to sumarize all of that, i think that if vick was white, he wouldn't have been involved with the dog fighting ring, but if he was white in the same prediciment as he's in now, i think that goodell would still come down hard on him.

If Vick was white he would still be a dog killer.
Humans might not have much compassion for other humans but they sure love their dogs. There is a reason they are called man's best friend.
Tru-Blu, how can you prove this is a racial thing when the majority of players you mentioned are the same race as Vick??? You can not compare the light suspension of those players to Vick's upcoming hammer blow. Tagliabue did great things for the league, but he was not exactly harsh with his suspensions. Love it or hate it, there is a new commissioner now and he plans on cleaning up the leagues image.

If Michael Vick was white they would call him a black quarterback on ESPN. Meaning a running QB. I dont think race makes a difference. Ray Lewis he still plays. Jamal Lewis he still plays. Ricky Williams.........okay he was just plain ignorant. Art Schliester was banned for gambling and he was white. Mike should serve his time and if able to come back to the game go for it. Im white I take it your black. I hate how many blacks will make something seem race related. Peace out.............

Yes of course the history of the United States of America has had its turbulent times and there was discrimination towards Chinese, Japanese, African, Latinos and other races. There are cases today where there is racial profiling. Unfortunately, at the same time, there are cold cases where people accuse law enforcement of racial profiling so they can pretend to get away from their crime.
In my personal opinion, I don't think that Michael Vick was targeted because of his skin color per say. I think it was because the crime that he committed was something wrong.
Yet, it shocks me and makes me wonder why the hypocrisy of this country is so disgusting. Some people murder and rape over and over and are set free or imprisoned for a long time and victims families are suffering while animals are treated with more respect then the lives of the homicide victims!

no. this is a new era with, a new commissioner. the NFL, is looking for players to make examples of and, Michael Vick and, Pacman Jones, just happened to be among the first volunteers. contrary to popular opinion, everything negative that happens to a black celebrity, is not related to race. sometimes like anyone else, they just make a bad decision. its called being human.

No. It would be the same. What Vick did makes no difference what race, sex, creed, education, or economic background he came from. Cruelty to animals is cruelty to animals, no matter who explains it away or has the gall to try to defend what Vick had done, By the way, I am white(not a racist), 46, and male.

Don't try to turn this into a race issue!! Anyone who did what Michael Vick did, no matter what race, gender, or what have you, would be treated the same way. I hope he gets a lifetime ban from all of football, worldwide.
